Cons: If we pull out now, Iraq will become a dictorship again and since the future dictor will feel that he forced us out, he will challenge us at ever turn. He will invade his neighbors, murder his own countrymen. (2) All countries in that region will feel that we will not keep our word to help them against invaders and all of these countries will fall to dictors. (3) Most of the dictorships will be regiligious fanatics that will develop weapons to kill more of us, be havens for terrorists (4) Use the fact that the western world must have oil to maintain our societies will use their oil to blackmail us. PRO; (1) stopl the killing of American troops. (2) Eventually with enough time Iraq governmen twill be ble to defend itself against the people in their own country that are trying to be the next Iraqi dictor. (3) The middle eastern countries are watching us to see what we will do, if we stay, then they will believe we will keep our word. (4) Give the religious fanatics 1 less rock to crawl under.

The fact that you went there is relevant America and Britain have set a dangerous precedent by going to war with a country without foundation. This scenario could happen again, anywhere in the world. As for what would happen if the troops withdrew, The shiite and sunni factions would slaughter each, in order to gain control, untold numbers of dead. A truly vicious civil war. Iran would take sides with one or the other. But at least it will be Iraqi against Iraqi, which is how it would be politically in an election situation. These people have primitive ideas on how power should be gained, ie, violence. I say let them get on with it. It is after all, their soil.

Look what happened when we prematurely pulled out last time. We are there we might as well support what our troops are doing over there and get the job done. I think that what the troops are doing is very honorable and they do not need a bunch of people second guessing why we sent them over there. If I was over there the last thing I would want to hear is that fighting this war is wrong. We should be supporting them if for no other reason than because the soldiers are there fighting to keep it safe for us. Besides if they did not fight the ones screaming "no wars" would be the ones crying because they no longer have free speech.

Immediate troop withdrawal would save the lives of the American troops that are pulled out. Maybe, with time, the rest of the world will quit hating us for our aggression. What's the downside of withdrawal? Civil war? That's what's going on now. Look what happened in View Nam. Once we left the civil war escalated just as it eventually will in Iraq when we finally do pull out.

It kind of depends on what happens should we pull out. Will there be a civil war? Would it result in another war? No one can tell the future. To be objective on this topic is pointless. I think that if we pulled out now, we'd have a lot to deal with. It's going to be a challenge to pull out at any point. Plus, if we pull out there, who's to say we won't send our troops to another front (North Korea comes to mind)? It's a sticky situation no matter how you look at it.

I think of Cambodia, Somalia, and Afghanistan. All were abandoned by superpowers whose own publics were hood winked by outsiders to protest their presence there. All became disasters and collectively costs tens of millions of lives.
I vote we stay, even when the going gets tough, and win so that the people left behind have a better world than before we came. That's the American way I used to know.

Our troops live and a bunch of Iraqis die. Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

They would continue to blow each other up, except for the few who will continue to try to blow the US & other places up...
They tend to kill the innocent people & leave the hate mongers so...we need to either stay & keep them honest...as far as we can anyway, or blow them the heck up...for real & forever.
