My truck has 28K miles and this light is blinking! It did not start doing it until I took it in for an inspection. This light does not come on all the time and I do not feel anything wrong but it is plain annoying. It will stop blinking when I restart. I am affraid it may lead to propblems. Does anyone know how to stop this?

i own a repair shop and you need to take it in and have it looked at the light is for the over drive part of the transmission, and if is blinking on and off there may be a problem with the over drive switch in it,it will still work fine the light is indicating its going in and out,,its still under warranty so id have the dealer repair it while the warranty is still good on it, use that warranty while you can to get all this stuff fixed, because when its gone it starts coming out of your pocket, but it does need to be checked its not supposed to do that, good luck i hope this help,s.

It means there are DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) stored. Something inside the electronic controls of the transmission has fallen OUTSIDE the operating parameters. Bring it in to a Ford dealer to have them "EEC it" for the codes. It shouldn't cost you anything, since it should be covered under warranty, according to the year and mileage.

Is the overdrive working, and does it turn on and off like it should with the switch? If yes, it's no big deal. If anything serious was happening you'd feel yourself going in and out of overdrive.
