He tried to get help from the state to pay this, (he has great credit and doesn't want it ruined) but the state said he makes too much for them to help. Is there anything he could do to get help with this bill somewhere else?

He does have insurance, but because he had a heart attack a couple of years ago, they told him the insurance wouldn't cover another heart attack for the first year, A few months later he had another one, so the insurance didn't cover it because it wasn't a year yet.

I think it is crazy that the insurance company tells him he has to have coverage with them for at least a year for them to cover another heart attack.

First of all, I am very sorry to hear about your dad, i pray and hope for him a speedy recovery God speed. As long as your father makes payments to the hospital for the bill, it can be very minimal they will not send him to collections. He can also talk to the hosptial directly in the billing office and see what options they have available to assit him if any. I take it by this quesiton he did not or does not have medical insurance. I would simply pay whatever, I could afford on the bill monthly 20.00 dollars a month would be more than sufficient. and would keep from ruining his credit. Good luck and God bless

Hospitals cant do anything as long as you pay something a month, I had a 7000 dollar hospital bill, I paid $5.00 a month about five years ago I am up to about $300 paid, but no legal action against my credit will be made

He needs to pay whatever he can every month. Most hosptials will be willing to work with someone than to have them not pay at all. As long as he pays something and makes a ginuine effort than his credit will not be affected. He needs to talk with the financial/billing dept of the hospital.
