because americans think soccer is boring, and also americans suck at soccer, and americans only support the sports in which they dominate. Also the argument that soccer is a slow sport is stupid. Baseball has a slower pace than soccer. I grew up in America and have always loved soccer. Americans are stupid!!

I sometimes wonder if america doesn't view itself as a separate entity from the rest of the world. it doesn't compete in the more global sports like soccer, rugby and even cricket. OK, they do athletics and golf but for one thing those are largely individual sports and also, their profile is very small in the US. Soccer is massive for youngsters in the US (it's so easy to play) but all the money is in the big three so trhat's what all the great sportsmen play in the States. Their whole infrastructure is set up to preserve the supremacy of gridiron, baseball and basketball. Having said all that, why did American football never take off in Europe? It started to in the eighties but people lost interest. Shame because it's a great game (they can keep baseball and basketball though)

Because Americans SUCK!! I was born here so i am american but my parents are hispanic, my mother is Argentinian and i LOVE soccer. Of course my favorite team in Argentina national team. Not many of my friends share my liking of soccer, not even much of my own family like my cousins who are a little more "white" than me (not trying to be racist AT ALL, please no offense). For some reason americans care so much for american football. i hate it. it is boring and they stop the game every 5 seconds! soccer is a real sports where the players can never rest and the ball is always moving. ok well i dont think that answered the question. i was just venting. :o)

I think it is gaining a bigger following every year. After watching the World cup with friends who know soccer I really got into it. I play in a Premiership Fantasy League and I am slowly understanding the teams, players and the rules. But yes it can be a lot of watching nothing and then short flashes of action. It will be a long time before soccer gets even close to the following of the NFL or MLB.

We have baseball, soccer, basketball and to a lesser quantity, hockey, which can be facet of the American tradition. All of those video games have extra of a historical past on this nation than does football. There is a culture, wherein fathers go at the love of the sporting activities to their kids, and football has no longer gotten at any place virtually that factor within the USA

because we need lots of scoring to entertain us here.
Soccer is a sport that takes patience and taking advantage of opportunities. Americans dont have the patience.
i've always thought if you get rid of the offsides penalty, and make the goal bigger, soccer would catch on in the US.
oh, and there is a lot of draws in soccer, Americans want a clear cut winner, all the time.

Well u seem to like soccer cuz it is popular there and u grew up with it. It is the same here - we are familiar with the sports that we invented, like baseball and basketball and American Football so we gravitate more to them. No offense

Ameircans are prone to violence and fast lifestyle. Soccer is quite slow with scoring and having such a huge field makes it slower. Plus there is no real "full contact" except fighting on the stands and the occassionol angry headbutt :)

Soccer is boring, takes too long to get a goal, and is not violent enough for us in the USA.
