In the US movie tickets are expensive as well. anywhere from $8 to $10 or more. I can only assume that boot-leg copies are eating into profits and like me, some people wait for the movie to come out on video. Sounds like theatre's need to cover their overhead.....I would hate to think that it is simple a greed issue. If you think the cinema is expensive, try getting tickets to a Broadway play here in New York......and take out a bank loan if you want refreshments.

They are expensive here in the USA as well. Why I only go to the movies when there is one that I really want to see. (Such as the new Marie Antoinette one opening today) I haven't seen a movie in about a month. The movie theater near me sells tickets for a regular movie for about $8.00 then if I want to buy food it is another $10 on top of that, so i've learned to get a big purse and buy my food and bring it in and just buy a drink at the theater.

Ouch and I thought my local cinema was bad enuf at £5.60! Dropping customer numbers must push up the price they have to charge to continue to make a profit.
