five years later after 9/11? Why weren't they closed on Sept 12, 2001? Why haven't they been closed for homeland security reasons from the get go? Or is this just a tool to be used for election purposes? Don't you think there has been some neglect here for the last 5 years anyway?

A strong bill was before our legislators recently and few had the guts to really close the borders.
Democrats seem to see all the illegals as the few votes they need to tip elections their way and
vote for easy voter registration, public aid, etc. as
a way to buy their votes.

Are you aware of the NASCO Super Corridor or the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) Of North America?
In March 2005, President Bush, President Fox on Mexico & PM Paul Martin of Canada signed an under-reported agreement to merge the three countries into a trading block called North America.
The idea was pretty much to merge nations, remove the borders, merge currencies, build super highways for road/rail travel etc.
Part of this change is the removal of national borders and border control, I think.

USA is a society and economy which is highly interlinked to other societies and economies. Travelling between countries is essential in order to keep businesses going. Homeland security will not close borders. Unfortunate part is - legitimate channels are used by illegitimate persons and for illegitimate purposes. Gone are the days when societies could ignore the security purpose. Islamic militancy is not based on plausible reasoning. It is all about forcing all others to follow arabs. everyone is required to be careful.

Our borders are open "in there existing state" because our government wants them that way. Haven't you folks figured it out yet? The government doesn't give a damn about you!! All they're interested in is how much money they can make. Look at how much money "certain individuals" have made off the war. It's not about us, it's all about them. They want cheap labor. In ten years or less this country will be just like Mexico. The haves and the have nots.

There has been neglect in regards to the illegals for a lot longer than 5 years. This has been a on going problem for decades. The democrats have been fighting tooth and nail to keep the borders open and a few republicans too (who will either change their mind or lose their seat).

Because Liberals believe that everyone has a right to be in our country. They don't realize that although immigrations worked for us years ago it is destroying us now. There is a limit to the amount of people this country can tolerate and have reached it.

That is not America. We are the land of the free. Always have been ,always will be.All we can do is strengthen
our borders with tighter check points and we have the technology to have satellites from space beam unpatrolled
and no check points to become our eyes to stop,this problem.

The republicans have wanted them closed for years but the bleeding heart liberals want it open so they cry and whine about it and human rights. Then they block any attempt to secure our country.

neglect bordering on treason....our borders should have been closed within hours of 9/11! I suppose our government was to busy using American planes to harbor bin ladens family to seal our borders & protect middle-class Americans!

So you would close off all borders and not allow anyone or anything inside or outside of this country???
That's not the way our economy works. Check any of your labels, clothes, food, anything. Where does it come from?
