Long shot, but it really happens:
(This answer assumes your email address is NOT @yahoo.com but you use a Service Provider)
Internet Service Providers try to "protect" their customers from unsolicited email, not because they love you so much, but because they don't like to hear all the complaints from customer "why do I get all this c....p"?!)
They apply a "filter" (often run by a third party "Security Company"), that scans your incoming mail for "undesired" words, and for mail that "look like" it could be Spam. Apart from some obvious words, the judgement logic can be quite difficult, and can lead to email being "killed" which you actually want to receive. It can go so far that emails that look like they have "typical business language" in it are screened out, because you have opened your ISP account "for personal use only" (which costs less than a "business account").
Ask the sender of the mail you didn't get to send it again, but this time, change the Subject line to something extremely "harmless",
and make sure there are no words being used that could be filtered out.
