Absolutely not! I had an employer (a hospital) who tried to make everyone donate and even wanted to take it right out of our checks - TO THE UNITED WAY no less. There was a contest going on where the orgsanization who had the most people donate would win money for the managers - I swear it! They put a lot of pressure on the employees, to the poit where some (no most) thought that they would lose their jobns if they didn't do it. Someone should look into this to see if the United Way has anything to do with this kind of program.

NO!!! The United Way is getting a very bad rap for this. I think the supervisors must get a nice prize if everyone gives! I urge you to express your willingness to give to the charity of your choice on your own time. You are there to work!

I dont think donating is a mandatory thing. If it was, then it should not be could donation anymore. Check with agencies that cater to employee benefits and law.

Nope, Department of Labor would love to know this. Contact your State Department of Labor, and report it anonymously. It's actually considered workplace harassment if they "Insist", Demand"...But let me add the following. Maybe just maybe, he's lying and the money is for a party, and strippers are needed? lol..You never know!
