No. No more so than Japanese shows make the world believe the Japanese are schizophrenic nutjobs, or that the British are bumbling old fools with corns on their feet.
I grew up overseas and work for the State Department. Most people like Americans. They just don't like our government because we're the dominant power. Ask the British how they were treated under Victoria, or the French under Napoleon, or the Spanish under Phillip. We're just at the center of attention right now.

Some reality shows (Simple Life, Bachelor/ette, America's Next Top Model) are really offensive to those reared in a theocracy like Iraq, Iran and other Muslim countries. They see this as an example of the depravity Americanisation causes worldwide. With that, I agree. I do not agree that those who spoke out against American aggression (moveon.org, michael moore, cindy sheehan, etc.) encouraged more hostile action. Especially Cindy Sheehan, a mother who lost her son to an unpopular and unneccessary war. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi mothers would agree with her!
Michael Moore is a milquetoast inasmuch as he skirts the issue, but never quite offends with a left-leaning opnion.

They should have a reality show on capital hill where cameras follow the senators around 24/7 and then would be able to vote weekly on the politician, I think that will help all parties pull there heads out of their a@s's....

I don`t think Americans are cry babies. Just like I don`t think terrorists sit around watching reality shows. In my opinion shows like Maury and Jerry Springer cast Americans in a very poor light.

Reality shows, Laguna Beach, Beverly Hills 90210, Paris Hilton, ad nauseum,
ad infinitum, all depict us as weak fools.
Sadly, it will take another major attack on this country to wake up some Americans.
Then we will take up arms and throw people we see as a threat out of the country.
Maybe we will throw out some lawyers too.
It's about time.

They should realize that we are not a toothless tiger despite what they see of our stupid, idiotic TV shows. But if they think we are soft and spoiled so much the better because they will be surprised when they see that RPG heading for their tent or cave! Doesn't everyone love surprises?!?!?! LOL

it must be nice to believe the world can be summed up into neat little generalizations.
We don't live in that wortld, though.
If there was a single watershed event showing our "weakness," it was Reagan's withdrawal from Lebanon 20+ years ago, the precursor to everything bin Laden and co have done.
