What purpose/goal are we serving by being in Iraq?

(I support us staying there, but I still wonder why we're there. Thank you!)

Many reasons and oil isnt one of them. The oil produced in that region is not used by the United States, it is used mostly in Europe. If we were there for oil then how come we havent used any of it? Have you ever seen the conditions the people were living in before we arrived? Sadaam was an evil dictator that was a threat to us and our allies and the longet he stayed in power the greater that threat became. Have you seen the faces of the poeple and how greatful they are that we are there, thankful that they now have more schools then ever before and even if it is MRE's they now have food on a consistent basis? Why dont you asked one of the children that did not have a school to attend or food to eat this question?

Iraq is a tough situation. But these are the questions I ask. I ask them honestly, and not rhetorically.
1. We provided money and arms to Saddam Hussein. If we made the mess, shouldn't we clean it up?
2. After Hitler, we said "Never Again" to genocide. Same after Stalin, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Milosevich, etc. etc. etc. When does "Never Again" actually mean "Never?"
3. If we did the wrong thing by removing Saddam Hussein from power, the logical step would be to restore him to power. Are we willing to do that? (After all, if an employee is illegally fired, the company often has to give him/her his job back.)

To protect our life-styles of which we've all grown accustomed. Creating western friendly, stable nations in the Middle-east protects & gaurantess a free-flowing oil supply. Protecting the oil supply helps the world economy. Bolstering the world economy helps the U.S. economy. Maintaining the U.S. economy allows us to live the life-styles we've grown accoustomed to. If asked, the majority, if not all of the people in this country (and around the world) , would be unwilling to significantly down-grade their standard of living to accomodate peace in the middle-east. That's why we're there.

The question to you and everyone else on the street is: are you willing to make less money, live in a smaller home, drive less, shop less, have less etc. Are you willing to down-grade your current standard of living? If the answer's no....

We are still in the process of rebuilding infra-structure.
it's not an easy task with people blowing themselves up left and right.

We are still training and developing a National army as well as a system of policing...did you know more than 5,000 American police officers are in Iraq training and assisting local police...amazing.

there's still alot left to do along with
locating and eliminating foreign malitias AND the savage gangs that are forming their own malitia system.

tough stuff - we need to stay the course.

It's simple really. We're not there searching for weapons of mass destructoin or anything. No. Bush just wants to find the secret pie recipie. The reason we have Sadam is so we can get it out of him. In other words, Bush justs wants pie.

The government like women work in mysterious ways. I could give you a response, but only a few truly know.

This is why we went in:

We are there now to stabilize the situation - it would be worse for us if we leave than if we stay.
