If you had the power and authority (such President or Prime Minister) what would you do to end or limit terrorism. It's easy to criticize Bush and America for "lies" and "war-mongering", but if you're so smart what would you do?

`Send out 'wet' teams to target the leaders of terrorist groups and the countries that support them.

1. Eliminate foreign dependency. Invest 800 B in biofuels. A U New Hampshire study puts the investment required to satisfy all of the US energy needs at 408 B. Allocate more and make sure the job gets done.
2. Confiscate assets of terrorist nations. Would Saudi princes finance terrorists if their foreign investments were seized as war reparations in consequence?
3. Withdraw from terrorist countries. No troops, no trade, no easy targets.
4. Isolate all countries with terrorist connections with an air and sea blockade. Allow coastal fishing and shipping but bar access to the open ocean. Nothing goes in and nothing comes out and anyone trying to run the blockade gets sunk or shot down. The concept of free navigation is a relatively new concept that was granted by Britain when she ruled the waves. A fleet in the Mediterranean and a fleet in the Indian Ocean could do the job. The fleets are already there, all that is needed are new operational orders. Between 1500 and 1945, Britain used this strategy of containment successfully in turn against Spain, Holland, France and Germany. The terrorist nations are much less formidable naval powers than any of Britain's former adversaries.
5. Destroy WMD facilities with commando raids or air strikes. Avoid civilians as much as possible and get out as soon as the offending facility is gone.
6. Deport anyone that gives material support or aid to terrorist organizations. Where to? Take them to the coast of a terrorist nation and give them a rowboat to get ashore.

I would realize that terrorism can not be completely eliminated--and certainly not with more terrorism. I would deal with the terrorists that had actually committed an offense, not try to wipe out entire governments and societies. A war on terrorism is like the war on drugs--it is a war on an idea, only real people are getting killed in the name of saving lives. It doesn't make any sense. I would also try not to provoke people by getting into their private business. You can't control the whole world even if you are president of the United States.

I don't believe that he is truly mentally capable of such a task, and I truly do not mean that in a condescending way - - it simply follows that particular personality type that believes that everything is based around materialism and "I got mine, you get your own . . . "me first," the rich are rich because they work harder and deserve it" attitude. Needless to say, this type of mentality does nothing in the way of building relations with countries that have significantly less money and material goods that the United States.

That being said, the U.S. needs to aproach international diplomacy with a more in-depth, "taking a walk in your shoes" view when dealing with other nations with considerably less resources. It needs to be more sensative and less critical of how other nations deal with their internal problems, and work toward building bridges instead of tearing them down. This will build world support, and support is something that is in very short supply these days!

Therefore, when "lies" and "war-mongering" are placed in the mix, other nations resent us even more. "Adding insult to injury" used to be a very popular phrase, no? And the arrogance within the United States itself is nothing short of amazing. We gage everything in the world by our standards, and try to fix other nations' problems according to which methods work within our own country instead of the true and correct methods - - those solutions appropriate for each country according to their standards, not our own.

I would hold Saudi Arabia accountable. I would withdraw all dependence on Middle East oil. I would fund alternative energy and give huge tax breaks to green companies. I would pull our armed forces back and have them defend our borders. I would cut off all trade with Muslim countries that support terrorism and I would cut off any country who does trade with them.

Rather than imposing our will on people, we should be withdrawing our aid from them. What good is it to go there, blow it up, then rebuild it better than it was in the first place? Only Halliburton gets rich when we follow that plan. And we all know who has stock in Halliburton.

there is no easy answer to this question. For example we have terrorist right here in our schools. The Amish school for example where they are pacifists an invader killed innocent children. The devil is "alive and well seeking those whom he can devour." I would withdraw our troops from Iraq because it is impossible for the soldiers to tell who the enemy is over there. Those "rock throwing people" are more devious than we once thought.

The main issue with terrorism is the cause for which terrorism is caused. We have to investigate the cause and remove the cause. No matter how many terrorists you kill there will be others to take up their cause. so it is the cause. What are terrorists after all?
they are just people who have been misled, mistaught and sent on a war path to cause destruction to life, property and society. after all they are just human beings. so remove the cause and we remove terrorism.
this is just my opinion.

Yes, we can stop terrorism.
Dispose of the secret services. The CIA/MI6/Mossad/ISI were between them responsible for 9/11, 7/7, Madrid train bombing, Bali bombing, Mumbai train bombing, Lockerbie air disaster, and many others - all blamed on Arabs or Muslims in order to keep people terrorised and prepared to give away their freedom in exchange for ill-perceived security.

I would force China to cut out the food supplies to North Korea. I would use the oil here in the states instead of overseas. I would also drop missiles on North Korea and Iran before they dropped them on us.

A less popular answer is that we can find terrorism in ourselves.
As we begin to discover why and how we'll be able to understand rather than shoot at first sight..

We should send teachers instead of soldiers to other countries, educating foreign nations on how to better society for themselves rather than us making that decision for them.
