Democracy doesn't work, not everybody has their say, but it is still the best we have, but there must be an alternative, is there, where freedom, equality and the right to pursue happiness is for all and not just the rich, is there?

The only viable alternative is a Meritocracy (such as Singapore), but like all political theories, it often fails in practice.

Well, democracy sounds like the best we have at the moment. However, we cant reach a better alternative, unless we have a personal 'revoloution' and discover ourselves, we cant think of an alternative that benefits the whole society. However, achieving a 'personal revoloution' can not be achieved if we give in to capitalist ideals. So, if someone feels like discovering a better alternative than democracy, he better hit the mountains and get away from today's civilization.

the native American system worked when there was relatively no luxuries in the tribes and their time was spent on survival...come to Canada and visit the American Indian reserves. The chief often has two brand new huge SUV's or trucks in the driveway of a huge house, while the rest of the tribe struggles with alcoholism in run down shacks...I'm with Hobbes, man is self-centered and the only way to merge his egoistic interests with society's is by rule of law....democracy is still domination of the majority..but it's less threatening than the potential despotism of a monarchy or single ruler.

democracy would work if people got off there a***s and actually voted. Why doesnt Britain implement a system whereby you legally have to vote but also give people the option of a box that says "i have no opinion on this matter". It would give us a better understanding of what the hell is going on. I cant believe that this current government was voted in by less people than those who didnt vote at all and not only that but less people than those who voted in who Big Brother 2006

democracy seem to be a bit of a myth here because the goverment never puts key issues to a vote. The immigration situation, being governed by the EU, our troops in Iraq. They dont like asking for votes when their know and dont like what the answer will be.

So why don't we get along with each other?

Religion and politics.

Lets have a new policy of "agree to be different"
