You may be able to get some of your questions answered there... they have an extensive FAQ section.

If not, this website will point you in the right direction to help you find a Planned Parenthood in your area.

Yes... you can set an appointment with them and they will answer any questions you have confidentially.

They also charge on a sliding scale, which means that the less income you make, the less they'll charge you.

(father of 2 daughters, ages 21 and 23, talking):

My dear...

1. You probably can't get into a regular gyno because the normal lead time for a non-emergency appt is sometimes 2 months or more. You need to go to your regular doctor, which is a lot cheaper and the first step to any medical care. They will do the PG tests, an exam, etc and if they have concerns then they'll get you into a OB/GNY. I'm betting my paycheck that they'll see you w/o your parents there, but local laws might prohibit that.

2. Yes, you do need some birth control That should be something that you bring up when you see the doctor. I'd suggest the shots -- youngest daughter gets them in the Air Force and swears by them.

3. Your mother will, after a little bit of screaming, become your best friend. You see, she probably grew up in the 1970's, which were pretty wild sexually too. She didn't drop off of a turnip truck last night, she knows what is going on. Let's put it this way -- if you are PG then your parents are DEFINITELY gonna find out. If you need someone to keep your parents from going totally nuts, I'd suggest having an adult relative, or a pastor, or an adult neighbor be there as you tell mom.

I've noticed that women have this "code of the road" that basically says, "Dads don't understand, and we won't tell Dad if he doesn't have to know." She might be angry with you, but I'm telling you, she can become your best friend at this point.

4. Planned Parenthood has a very checkered past and present. Their founder had very unfortunate ideas on who should have babies, and who shouldn't. In addition, they are the largest abortion provider in the USA, which means that they are probably one of the largest in the world. An abortion is something that will haunt you for the rest of your life. Yes, they can provide services, and they have offices everywhere. However, even they would prefer that you go to your own family doc.

email me if I can help...

Planned Parenthood has trained gyno's that are volunteers. So, yes you can go to them for any thing you would go to a normal gyno for. It is completely confidential, if you want it to be. But if you have an STD, they have to notify the Dept. of Public health in your area.
