So I'm 20 years old and a junior in college, and I've liked this one guy for awhile (I'm pretty sure he likes me too). It's his last year in college, so I was assuming he was 22. I was already worried about this because of him graduating this year and me having at least one year left. Then, the other day, I found out from someone else that he's at least 24! So, I know a four year age difference shouldn't really matter, but in this case, maybe it does. (I know I shouldn't be so worried since we aren't technically dating yet, but I'm afraid too that we're not dating just because he found out how old I was!) What are your opinions??

It depends on the people. I wouldn't be concerned about a four year age difference. Even if you're not the same age, you're still at the same life stage-- both near the end of college. I wouldn't be worried at all, and good luck :)

I agree with the first answer - 4 years is a very minimal age difference. I used to date guys that were 15-20 years older then me in my early twenties. My husband is 8 years older then me (I'm 28-he's 36). Relax and enjoy the dating! When you date a guy in his 40s and you're only 20, then you've got issues.

My husband is 28 and I am 35-it depends on the person. I never notice a age difference in us, no one would know that we were almost 7 years apart. Just because you like him and would like to date him doesnt mean you have to marry him. Your young and have lots of time to date around and find that right one. If he is "the one" the 4 years age difference wont matter a bit.
ASK HIM OUT!

Age matters when one person is under 18. The age gap closes as a person matures, but remember that in our society, men are encouraged to stay boys forever, if possible, and women mature faster than men. Maybe your 24 year old guy thinks you're too old for him.

Age is arbitrary. Let me take an example from Islam. Muhammad the prophet had many wives. One of his wives was way older than him. He told her that that did not matter to him at all. Age should not matter to you. It's not like he's an old man about to turn 80. Even if he was, that does not matter. The older people that we meet have wisdom that the younger do not possess. You can learn a lot from him. I hope you and this guy have a nice relationship and don't look at his age; look at his internal spirit.

Age is but a number. It's about mentality and suitablility. Some 18 year olds are 15, some 22 in their outlook and experience. It's about the two of you and your connection, your bond and basically whether 'it' is there or not...

4 years is NOT a big difference. It would be different if you were 14 and he was 18, but you're both adults. So go out on a date and enjoy each others company.

At your age, age does matter. You are in a different phase of your life as well as he. You could have good times but it won't last. Live your life! Don't get tied down at this young age!
