i am always puzzled... one day go to church, mosque, temple and look at the worshippers going in - all llok like saints !
hey - hold on - watch them all - when they come out -
they all all sinners again .... aren/t they the same one who will go on to commit adultery, robbery, theft, rapes, and what not.
so what makes someone a better human being?

Wearing the veil is not about making you better, it is an act of obedience to what Allah has asked us to do. And going to church, mosque or whatever doesn't make you perfect, if it did we would only need to go once in our lives. Again it is an act of obedience, giving ones time to attend, trying to be better. We will never be perfect no matter how often we attend church, wear the veil, read the Koran or Bible. We can only try, pray and ask Allah to forgive us when we fail.
And Paula, wearing the veil for us is not some piece of jewelry, which by the way you could always wear under your clothes and it wouldn't illicit comment. It is more like a nun wearing her habit, it is a part of who we are. Also I don't think that you can get arrested in Turkey for wearing shorts unless they were indecent.
Most of the Arab country's do allow everyone to dress as they like unless it is indecent. I saw a Russian women on a Nile cruise in Egypt that had a skirt on so short she made me blush. And BTW I am an American and wore mini skirts and tank tops until my conversion to Islam. I think it is a sad commentary that wearing a bikini or something similar in public would not get the same amount of attention that dressing in a modest manner and covering ones hair does. What does that say about us as a society?

Why so much concern for other people and their beliefs? We all have the same right...freedom of religion.....nobody sits and watches you go in and out of your house or placew of worship....so...why would you?

Morals... the most vile people in history were mostly religious fanatics. Good people don't got to church, they have common sense enough to know its all a load of garbage.

i dont think they should be allowed to wear veils, christians - the heritage religion of england - are not allowed to wear the crucifix as it is deemed insulting to non christians (see the BA woman who was told she couldn't wear it at work), but religions that are foreign to this country can do whatever the hell they like! its a serious p i s s take. they come over here and can dress how they like but if we go to turkey and a woman wears shorts she will be arrested!!!! if we have to wear what they want us to in their country then surely they should wear what we want them to in our country?!
