I am British, I'm just not the type of person who gives a damn about her proper title.

Yes, it seems as though it would be a much more civilised world.

I don't remember having ever heard Her Majesty speak like that, at least in public!

>about her proper title.

Likewise, if "we all spoke like HM the Queen" we would seem to be a much more civilized Commonwealth.

The question is a giveway. Calling the Queen HRH is a mistake made only by people from the US, including the people in charge of BBC America! Everyone else refers to her as HM the Queen, HM standing for Her Majesty. I've often been criticised for speaking the Queen's English, but I'm grateful to her for keeping up standards of clear pronounciation and accurate grammar and therefore make no apology for doing so. But the world would be a less colourful place if we didn't speak with our regional accents and provided that we can be understood readily by those around us, let us continue to do so.

God no, it wouldn't. The Royal Family speak in a strange accent that was introduced by Albert, Queen Victoria's husband with his famous 'Rules of Protocol' adopted by the royals. Half the time you can't tell what she says so if we all spoke like that how would we communicate with the rest of the world. I mean, who in their right mind calls a house a 'hice'.

One would feel daunted recalling one's anus horribli to be met with peasants who could interpret such sad year with a plain attack of piles!!! So now it wouldn't make things better. What might make things better however would be if HRH was to try and see how the rest of us live, communicate, and attempt to understand us instead of isolating herself from us (My goodness they as in us could bring her some nasty disease) and treating us with a little respect!!! When she demands utter respect without doing anything to deserve it!!!

A variety of accents is good, but it would be better if everyone spoke properly instead of more and more young people adopting the slang and patois of uneducated oiks who don't know better.

Of course not. If the world is full of people who speakes like her, the world will have no color at all!

I mean, think about it, if that's what happen, I don't think that anyone would want to do the hard work won't they????

No, not because I am saying her accent is not good, but if everyone speaks with the same accent, there will be a lot less piss-take re. accents which means a lot fewer classic jokes! i love your accent Queen!
