Ok, personally I think its a wast of time to calculate it, but I would say that a mac g3 is around equivilent to a pentium 2 high end system, or a pentium 3 lower end system.

For a more accurate answer you could just open up the mac and take a nice long loock at the mother bored and cpu. the ID # on about 90% of the cpu chips i have worked with give a direct answer to the mhz that it runs at.

Also fora relitively accurate alternative if you dont trust yourself to open the thing up... is to search on the internet for utilities that check and measure cpu speeds.

and for a direct answer, no there really is no equation to figure the conversion. mainly you need to just find the mhz speed of the cpu. that in itself will tell you what it is when compared to a pc. 300-500 i believe is pentium 2, 600ish - 800 is pentium 3 and 1.2 ghz to about 2.## ghz is pentium 4 beyond that well you should by now get the point.

um 500 mhz... that is the clock speed of the processor so an old pentium III 500 Mhz would be comparable.
