not physically addicted I don't think, not like crack or nicotine, but you might develop a habit of having some around

especially if you're trying to quit smoking. you might have a bit of an oral fixation left from cigarettes, and the sweets are filling the gap.

yup, i believe so. i was a bit.
it's more of psychological. it depends on why you eat sweets.
sometimes, a person eats sweets, just like you've said that it's because of boredom.. being bored means you are displeased and unsatisfied, so by eating sweets, you lessen your boredom by diverting your attention to eating sweets, subconsciously, it satisfies you in a way, and the more you eat them, the more you can't get over with them. it gives you more appetite.

and sometimes it gets habitual because, you tend to interrelate.. when you come across a problem or boredom for another time, you would remember that, the time you experienced that same scenario, what you did to overcome it was to eat sweets, and it gave you satisfaction, so most probably, you'll do the same thing-- eat sweets. ..and also, sweets are composed of ingredients that adds to your appetite. too much is never good. (diabetes)

try to eat fresh fruits or crunchy vegetables, so that you'll feel full... =)

You can get addicted to anything "because of boredom", whether it's sweets, sex, or whatever...

If it's sugar your addicted to, make sure you read the ingredients labels on everything you eat, or drink. If it says, "High Fructose Corn Syrup", don't eat it, or drink it...because it's a synthetic sugar, which actually makes you crave sweets even more...

Yes, from what I heard many sweets (especially chocolate) has the same soothing chemical reaction as heroin, do, that's probably why so many people eat sweets to relax or out of boredom.

You can really get addicted to a person whom you like but for sweets I need to pause. If you keep eating your favourite sweet, no you would not get addicted, as the proverbs goes "Familiarity breeds contempt".

Bodies are effectively stupid things. Your body will love the rush that the sugar gives it...the more you take, the more you require it...or you will experience a sugar crash, which is akin to a hangover in so much as withdrawl symptoms will be exhibited.

Sugar is the essence to how our bodies function, sweets are super saturated little sugar bombs designed to taste great but screw your body up....

Yes. Boredom causes some people to do things that they wouldn't normally do.

well it depends on your will power. One can get used to anything. I used to eat a candy bar every day when i was 14, but as i wanted to lose weight I had to give it up, it was so hard. Now that i developed my will power i can give up anything.
I think that if you don't like sweets you shouldn't have a big problem...

Yes you can become addicted to sweets! Consumption of sugar releases serotonin, serotonin makes you feel happy. So you can become addicted to that feeling, which in turn can drive your compulsion to eat sweets!
