hey! Dont listen to people saying they are braxton hicks. Braxton hicks dont feel like menstrual cramps. well they didnt for me anyway!
I felt the same as you from week 37. Its just your cervix softening and dilating which is making you have these achy cramps. Its perfectly fine. Next time you go to your dr, tell them and ask them to do an internal so they can see how much you have dilated. It is really a good thing for this to happen, although these pains will continue on and off until you have your baby, it means that your body is already doing some work and you labour is guaranteed to be much shorter. My waters broke right on the day that i was due and i hadnt started contractions, but had an internal and they told me i was already 4cms. So it really is a good thing. Much less work! The only thing that i found was that once my contractions started they were 6 minutes apart straight away, and that was fine for the first hour and then i couldnt speak through them and because it all happened so fast (basically straight into the hard stage of labour) my body kinda went into shock and i started shaking and vomiting because i wasnt eased into the hard stage of labour. But thats the least of your worry's. Be grateful that your body is helping you out now, some of my friends havnt felt a thing until they had to be induced and then they found out they couldnt dilate all the way an ended up getting a c-section. Basically you are guaranteed a vaginal birth, which is great! Goodluck with your birth and your beautiful newborn!

Braxton Hicks contractions. You body is preparing for the delivery. These contractions are completely normal and happen for weeks leading up to delivery. Just time the cramping and if they are at all regular or coming close together then head for the hospital. Usually you don't need to get to the hospital unless your water breaks or your contractions are close together or a period of time. Also you may get a back ache or lose your mucus plug. Walking helps contractions continue.

I starting getting those cramping when i was about 35 weeks. they are most likely braxton hicks. Its means your body is getting ready for labour. Good luck and all the best to you. Remember drugs are your friend when you are in the hospital giving labour lol. Wishing you a painless and fast labour. take care

Sounds like to me that you are getting closer to having you little bundle of joy. The "cramping" you are feeling is normal.I felt the same way. I had them one day and then they started to get stronger and the days went on. Before I knew it the Dr was sending me to the hospital. Good Luck!!!

I agree with Tiegan! Braxton Hicks is higher up.... with hardening of your bump.
I've had cramp like pains and I agree it could be my cervix. Also keep in mind that your uterus is growing 400 times it;s regular size and the only lower support it has it two tendons/ligaments that are by your hips.
Please don;t waste your time going to doctors or rushing to the ER... you'll just be wasting their time and yours.... If you experience bleeding or loss of fluids... by all means call your doctor and ask him..
