Limiting salt intake would be a good start. Not just added salt but hidden varieties. You need to read labels on food items - items like frozen entrees/TV dinners, canned soup & meats, cold cuts/lunchmeats, and the obvious things like ham, bacon, sausage, chips, etc. The Healthy Choice brands (they have everything from lunch meat to ice cream) are much lower in sodium than other brands. You can also buy soups that are lower in sodium, as well as canned veggies that have no salt added. Eating only fresh or fresh frozen of anything is the best bet.
Also anything to destress is good: relaxation techniques, any exercise, eliminate caffeine (it is not only in coffee, tea & sodas but chocolate and some headache remedies), and if she smokes, she needs to stop pronto.
Most of all, have her evaluated by a doctor at regular intervals to stay on top of her hypertension.

Sodium is the thing to watch. Daily recommended value is 1500 to 2000 mg a day. If you start looking at what you eat you will be amazed...my husband had high blood pressure and we started watching sodium content in what he was eating, it is unbelievable how much there is, one hot dog can contain upwards of 600 mg, then to think he would usuallly eat 3 but that was just one meal and he would have already had his daily value. Also, eating out is a culprit, there is no way to know how much sodium there is in restaurant food but I can imagine it's not good, so we started eating at home more, added a high fiber cereal for breakfast and whole grain bread, cut out anything processed like hot dogs, lunch meat, bacon, canned soups/beans. Nowadays you can find some great low sodium foods. His blood pressure has been normal ever since and he's off of the medication.

Take Bayer once a day and eat regular oatmeal every morning, drink liquids like water, apple cider vinegar and all natural juice-no added sugar foods. Stick to this, within a few days you will see improvement! In a week to 2 weeks time it will lower. My grandmother and husband did this and it lowered their blood pressure significantly! But she has to continue eating healthier. Sugars are the #1 enemy and culprit. And Fried foods. Eat green--veggies, grilled chicken for at least one month nothing white (white bread, white rice etc) It is not good for you. If she can deal with the plain oatmeal every morning and maybe for lunch it would speed some things up, do not add any sugar to it though. If you have to use Sugar in the Raw it's better than any sugar or sugar substitute.Cook your foods in olive oil. Let me know how it turns out in 1-2 weeks, It works!!! NO COFFEE have tea instead(green tea). I have also found that fasting a few hours a day helps, the body heals itself and rids itself of toxins throuhg this process. Maybe 2-3hrs a day.

This reading is not actually too bad. Blood pressure rises slightly with age, so the lower reading being under 90 is ok. The higher reading...does she need to relax more?
Was this a one off reading?
Should have it taken on 3 separate occasions to get an accurate picture.

That actually isn't that bad. Average bp is 120/80. We have a lot of patients with bp's at that. If she wants to lower it basically she should just watch what she eats, no salt, exercise (go for walks) and try to any eliminate stress.
