What a surprise. Yet again the British government lets its people down.

After all it seems only NATURAL that some scrounger from abroad who cares nothing for this country gets a free home/benefits and all the trimmings, whilst men who laid their lives on the line for this country get nothing.

This is Blair's Government. A seriously unfunny joke.

David G - you'd better brush up on British law. The Queen or "ma'am or whatever you call her does not make these laws and it is not HER fault that these people have been thrown aside. The whole point of our democracy is that she leaves law making to the politicians and does not interfere.

Blair and his stupid corrupt inept cronies and their ridiuculous policies (which concentrate more on helping scroungers and foreigners than decent native people) are the culprits. Please put the blame where it is due.

there are enough empty houses in the UK to house the homless population twice over, so why are these houses not put to good use? As far as being homeless, not many chose this way of life over a more comfortable exhistence so please think of what some of you are saying before tarring everyone with the same brush. That also goes for immigrants etc. If your life was in danger or you had lost everything you owned through war, famine etc wouldnt you want someone to give you some hope? If my life was in danger i would be so grateful for anyone helping me...can you imagine how some of them feel? I know some are here who really shouldn't be but for those who are DESPERATE i think we are doing the right thing. Yes i agree that the Government are going about some things wrong, but we will have to learn from our mistakes.
More really should be done to sort the homeless situation out though. No one should have to sleep rough.

,i put the same question on but left out the points of immigrants , what make me mad about all this , is when they are strikes on the army does get used to keep things running for example fire brigade , rubbish collection and over the last twenty years other things ,the forces just get on and do it with no thanks. now in times when they leave the forces they find they do not fit into civilian life so sleep on the streets or kill themselves and with the forces fighting all over the world i would not blame them if they put down the weapons and said no more until we get looked after properly as when they leave the forces they will want a life they have fought and died to protect we should give them that life

I also saw this piece on the news. But there was one guy who was living rough and was former royal engineer. He would be able to walk on any building site in the country and get a job. Royal engineer training is exceptionally good but it is obvious he just cant adjust to life outside the army. Otherwise he would be making a fortune as a tradesman.

This sort of question always makes my blood boil. When ever any one says up to they do not give a minimum it could be only one. If you believe everything that ITV news says or any news program for that matter you must be either very trusting or niave. They always put their own spin on any statement that they make.

I'm afraid to say the reports are true, we do not look after the one's who look after us, once the job is 'done' we toss them aside, imagine the metal torture of a young serviceperson on his/her first 'trip' abroad, its enough to get through it let alone be thrown aside like an animal. We are , here subject of HM, and HM, doesn't always know what goes, So forgive M'am, but we really should be doing better, not giving to those who would kill and bomb us, its your vote, use it

Yes but a lot of people are on the streets because they want to be. However, it is awful and immigrants should not be housed over the homeless.

Because they refuse to GO GET A JOB!

There are those who succeed in life and those that fail. There are those that give a crap and those that don't.

This is how the correct answer to your question is YES! It is right! They sleep on the streets because they choose to do so.
