The precise amount of DHA/ARA varies in mother’s milk depending on their diet, but accretion into central nervous system tissues is better and always accomplished with nature’s version of DHA/ARA. Formulas also contain varying amounts of DHA/ARA as manufacturers do not really know how much to put in. Since no long-term beneficial effects have been documented, the question remains whether formula-fed babies derive any benefits.
DHA/ARA are also available as infant supplements
increasing your milk supply may also be an option, please look at http://www.kellymom.com for help

Enfamil Lipil, the Sam's Club brand, and Target brand both have the EXACT same nutritional content...17mg per 100 calories. Ultra Bright Beginnings has 19mg per 100 calories, but I'm not sure where you can buy it. Eckerd is the only place near us.
There's a link to the site below, where you can type in the store locator, or even order it online. It's not that expensive either...online, its about 120 dollars for six cans (31+ oz each).
I use the Target brand, but also pump and give my daughter as much of that as I can, so, it's all good. Don't stress too much. The four months is great!

Breastmilk is the ideal food for an infant and it has the perfect amount of DHA for your baby. If you were able to produce enough in the beginning, I would try nursing the baby more. No formula is even close to breastmilk.

Contact your WIC department...(health department) They should have some type of print out that will show you how all formulas are pretty much the same...I went thro. the same thing your going threw... My milk production just all but STOPPED! I was told by my doctor that all formula is the same. One company just tries to make it as if there formula is the best... I use Similac and my little one LOVES it.. No tummy problems.

I am sort of in the same boat as you. My baby is 4 months old and I just had to quit breast feeding b/c I had to go back to work. I tried to do it just at night and in the morning and my supply just stopped.
My doctor said that Good Start was really good so I am sticking with that. I heard that the Comfort Proteins help with the digestion.

I'm not sure where you are from but when choosing a formula for my baby I scanned the isles comparing this very thing. I found the highest to be heinz baby nurture gold, it has a baby giraffe sleeping on it. But I am from Australia so you might not have it depending on where you live.

As far as I've been told, by a pediatrician, Good Start is the closest thing to breast milk. Keep breastfeeding as much as possible, even if it's only one feeding a day. You and your baby both benefit! Breast feeding is a wonderful thing and I congratulate you for doing it. Have you tried pumping to increase your milk supply. That keep me going. Good luck! Also, if you go to verybestbaby.com (Good Starts web site) you can sign up for coupons.

I believe Similac does, but I still would use Good Start, since it is a good start and better on the tummy and less bubbles
