Do they have to go overseas? Are American babies not good enough, or is there not enough publicity if you adopt an American baby?

I agree with you. The whole country is that way, some people seem to forget our homeless and hungry children right here in America. Why don't they help at home first!

1. Are you the Baby Adoption Police?

2. Does it matter where the baby came from?

3. Can't you just be happy for a child with a second chance for a family?

4. People take it far too personally as far as race, country, etc., etc., etc. It's a human being. Just because someone has celebrity status doesn't mean they broke the law trying to adopt a child. If the media puts a spin on it, there's nothing they can do, except hope that the readers are intelligent.

Good Luck and Warm Wishes.

I agree with you to an extent. I posted a similar question earlier. I do believe that in this country we have so many desperate and needy children. However, compare the lives of an orphan in Africa to an orphan in America. American orphans have a better chance for survival in this country than those in underdeveloped nations. While I do question the sincerity of many celebrities who adopt, I still applaud anyone that gives a needy child a loving home.

At the very least they are providing needy children with an ultimately better chance at life than the children would have fared had they not been adopted. Also, with all of the hoopla it may encourage regular people to adopt abroad. My only qualm with these celebrity adoptions is that they get to go "ahead" of the line. I feel that they should go through the same channels as normal people that adopt children from foreign countries.

You nailed it!! Its all about publicity. They know if they adopted here, then no one would really care. Plus, it's kinda like a competition. When one celebrity does it, they have to do it too or do it better. They gotta outdo each other. Now watch. Since Madonna has adopted a child overseas, Angelina will have to go out and adopt another one, just to show she's still the queen of adopting.

I was wondering the same thing myself. There are plenty of american children that need good homes but their is paper work and investigating that has to be done first and they won't get the media hype if they adopt an american child. In other countries they basically just have to cough up the money for the child and that's it.

Its not the question of good babies. America is a far more advanced country and the population is controlled. Furthermore American Government can afford to build some orphanages for the children where they can be better looked after but in Africa this is not possible. Its still a developing country. In America the the number of orphans is less than compared to Africa.

Because it is easier than dealing with the hypocrisy of the system here. My friend tried to adopt an African American baby she was caring for and went through all sorts of grief. Apparently there are many in the USA who feel that a white can not raise an African American. It wasn't as if there were people lined up to take this child in either..... our system prefers that white adopt white, black to black ,etc

It is the "cool" thing to do. It gives them media attention. They also want kids of different cultures. They like to have the rules bent for them. Yes, there are many children in every country, that are starving and homeless, and in foster care or orphanages. I don't recall Nicole Kidman having that much attention over adopting her kids. Whom I think both came from America, so I would have to agree with you.

I PERSONALLY THINK ALL OF YOU ARE WRONG. why would a woman with so much money, media attention, travel history and even being a member of many organizations that help starving children HERE IN THE STATES want to adopt a baby that will be with her FOR LIFE just to be in the public eye? they both have that already.i just think that when they got to Africa they are inpsired and see the kids dying. i dont think it has anything to do with publicity. do you think they will spend their hard earned money on a kid, and be a mom to a child for the rest of her life...just to gain attention? no way. they dont adopt children in the USA because lets face it: EVEN THE KIDS IN ORPHANAGES HERE ARE BEING WELL TAKEN CARE OF. where are starving children here that dont have parents? in shelters or orphanages. and they are being fed and clothed daily. they have privelegdes and resources that people in Cambodia and Africa do not have. people need to stop looking at nationality issues, it has nothing to do with it. americans have too much of everything to be poor. even bums have places to go..they just dont. they make more money on the streets. the parents and ENTIRE family of a lot of these kids being adopted by celebs died of AIDS. they need help there. there are shelters, but they have like 1 volunteer to every 100 dying child thats a victim of the aids virus. u guys need to stop comparing those children to the ones here. im not bashing America, because i was born and raised here...but i have been to Africa and seen it firsthand. to be frank..i can totally see why both Angie and Madonna would adopt somewhere else...someplaces just need it more. period.

that is a very good question, I never thought of that, but is it harder to adopt in America? But you hit it at home, that is a valid point, and thank you for actually considering the ones no one don't consider. That is our problem with our society, its like we rather go over to other nations to clean up their mess and we have so many problems at home its ridiculous, like we don't have any poverty, etc. Our country is so screwed up, and we are the biggest hypocrites. But have you noticed how when people get filthy rich they move overseas? something to think about...
