I'd say like a butterfly was moving around.

It felt like floating gas bubbles in my stomach when I first felt my baby. Felt so much like real gas bubbles, that I dismissed it for a couple of weeks, until I went to my next dr's visit and felt them when the doc was listening to baby's heart beat. I told her "There's those pesky gas bubbles again" and she said "That's not gas, it's the baby. You can hear him moving" and she turned up the volume and told us what to listen for. Sure enough, each time I felt a "bubble" we heard the baby moving!

The little bubbles sounds like gas. At 16 weeks the most you will feel is fluttering.

For me, it felt like a light muscle spasm, but on the inside. I was only 10 weeks, so it was very light. Many people will tell you that first time mommies don't feel anything until 22 weeks, but that's a bunch of malarky. It's just that first time mommies sometimes don't know that what they're feeling is their babies until the movement is more pronounced.
Congratulations and enjoy this time! It goes by fast as is very precious.

At 15 weeks I felt fluttering. I can see how woman say bubbles too though. I just remember thinking of a butterfly fluttering it's wings. It's truly an awesome feeling. I absolutely loved being pregnant. Enjoy it!

Hi, I'm 8 months along, and I have had two other kids. I asked this question when I was pregnant with my frist. And every one told me something different. I think it's different for every one. but I would say in the begining it felt like a muscele spasm in your belly then as you are further along it starts to feel like there's some one in there. with my frist I didn't feel it move or well was not really shore it moved until I was about 22 weeks. congrats on your pregnacey. Take care.

When I thought of butterflies I thought it was like when your stomach tingles when it moves up and down, kind of ticklish.
But when my baby moved it didn't feel like that at all. I guess I can understand the fluttering analogy, but its firmer than that.
I think it feels more like; when you were little and you would close your hand over a fat earthworm and feel it wiggle around inside your palm. I know, some girls won't admit to playing with bugs, but I was all Tom boy in pigtails. That's what it feels like to me.
The muscle spasm, was a feeling too. But not a painful spasm. Kind of like soft rippling of muscles. Its the coolest thing. Then when you get your first kick or punch...lol. I've been feeling it for a month now and it still amazes me. Then to see the little one kicking or moving on the ultrasound! OMG, my girl is feisty and kept swatting or kicking on whichever side the doctor was on. You could see her little arm come across the screen. Grandma was like awwwwwwe, me and daddy to be were like "You go girl, give'm hell!"

At first it like a tiny muscle spasm. You will find out in the next 2 weeks or so. Its really awesome and it gets stronger as they grow in the future weeks. My second had hiccups everyday for the last few months. That's cool also. Good luck.

It feels like a fluttering - a butterfly. Once the baby starts getting bigger you will feel the kicks and punches much more as the months progress.
