Sunbeam makes a electronic mosquito repeller. It is key chain sized, and can clip on your belt. Runs on a AAA battery. The thing works great, I do a lot of camping in the summer, and use it all the time. My friends will still get eaten alive even with chemical repellent, but usually I'll only have one or two bites after a whole weekend.

i'm really allergic, so i've looked this up. some research says that some people 'smell' better to mosquitoes than others. it's not conclusive, but there is conjecture that thiamine vitamins might help to alter that smell and make you less attractive to them. i started taking the vitamins to see if it would make a difference, but it was at the end of the summer so i couldn't really tell.
also think of this: garlic thins your blood...thereby making it less soupy and attractive to the blood sucking pests? might be part of the connection that had people using garlic to repel vampires back in the day! and there are garlic vitamins if you don't feel like wearing a garlic necklace.
otherwise, the spray on repellents are getting less and less abrasively scented.

I use Off bug repellent. I also use Skin So Soft by Avon. I'm unsure why the mosquitos doesn't like it, but it works everytime.

I live near a lake, and get bad attacks of mosquitoes every summer. When I first moved here they were eating me alive at night. I now use a machine called Mosqui-Go Duo, and have no more problems. You plug it in overnight, and can sleep with the window open without being attacked.

If you are talking about outside around your porch, plant merigolds. If it is in your home, place dryer sheets on your couch and even in your pockets when you are outside and they will in fact repel the mosquitos.

Mosquitoes become a nuisance when they enter homes. You can get rid of mosquitoes by using pest control. I found the information at http://www.pests.in useful.

I have heard that soldiers use garlic and that it really works, but I guess nobody else including the mosquitoes would get near you when covered with garlic !!!
I have used Off and it works well.
