Because the deadliest and bloodiest wars in history are all fought over religion anyways. Christians are actually the worse! remember the crusades? The inquisition? Even Hitler, a devout christian? People believe in the afterlife, therefore they will fight for their God. If someone can prove there is no afterlife, and that the whole idea of God is fake, world peace will happen because no one will want to die.

Because we are the only nation in the world whos foundation is every religion and every race of people. In retrospect to many other countries and how they deal with criminals....i think we are damn luck to live in the US just because of "do process alone". That and we are the only "democracy" in any major world country.

It ha nothing to do with the religion of the country it has to do with the government. We were good until the welfare system came into existence, social programs do not help people.
