If your children don't go to school they'll end up thick, not get a job, have no future and be dole queue scum. If you say you're teaching your kids at home, well, I don't hold out much hope either for their English skills if they are going to learn them from you.

Oh, and denying your kids an education will put you in prison.

At present there are no issues you are not happy with the school and for the head to say you have lack of confidence in your ability as a mom is a disgrace. She should be helping you not condeming you.
You need to contact your local education authority and find out what schools are available in the area or you are intitled to phone the local schools and ask if they have any vacancies and request an appointment to see the head.
I can understand your distress as I had to take my daughter out of her primary school many years ago as she was being bullied/kicked and punched in FRONT of teacher and he did NOTHING! I did I phoned up another school that same day went and seen the head day after she was in and she passed every exam with flying colours.
Not all schools are nessasary the right school for your children and if you are not happy feel you are not going to get the support you all need then change now whilst they are young.
Sorry you have had this most schools are usually very supportive and will help if there is a problem some just do not.
You must be seen to do something active to get another school as they will report you forgot to add that.

This just goes to show you how much control the school system wants to have over our children. You have every right to take your boys out of school. They are yours to raise. You have many options, a different school, private school, a home tutor, homeschooling. It doesn't take much time to homeschool. All the rotten things that people say about homeschooling is false. I say if your children have learned up to the schoolage then that has proved that you can teach. Don't listen to these idiots that say you cannot homeschool. Homeschooling is legal in every state. www.hslda.com will give you all the info you need. I would tell that head lady to go right ahead and ring those other schools. That onbly makes her look bad in the longrun. She sounds like a real winner. Not professional at all. I would report her to her boss. Everyone has someone that they have to report to. I hope you can get this resolved. Remember your boys well being is the most important thing here. Do what is best for them.

Alot of the answer depends on you depends on you & the jurisdictional authority of the school which depends on where you live. If you choose to keep them in public school go to the local board of education & work your way up. If you choose a private institution, most of the time you end up with the same results for alot more expense. Home schooling is also an option which affords you more, lets say environmental control, but here is the problem in a nut shell with respect to education in America no matter what avenue you choose & even though you were not very specific about your issues, which is ok too.
Teaching is a calling if you know what I mean. Most anyone can be given the job or responsibility of teaching but very few people are really "teachers" or "gifted" with the ability to teach. Back in the 50's the government saw the oppourtunity to (capitalize$) on the market of teaching & particularly in the 60's & 70's pumped up the machine to produce (teachers?) from the institutions of higher learning and proceeded to pass out teaching certificates like tic tacs to, people that had about as much business at the head of the class room as "hogans goat" & wa la, you have the education system we have to deal with.
The system could care less about your protest by the way unless you can produce some support. I suggest you you take a good honest look at your goals, motives and abilities & decide which way to go. Your childrens educational success depends primarily on you & your ability to help them. Right now & for at least the last 40 to 50 years the more I think about it, the American education system is at best a piss poor government funded social experiment.
We do have 5 children of our own from 21 to 9 yrs old all educated in the public shcool system in case you were wondering where I got my info or opinion. They are and have been good students in spite of our school systems efforts to make them (government dependent air heads) though but that has mainly been attributable to our efforts in their lives. Hang in there & don't be afraid to tell the school where they fall short, just be able to support your claims & remember that your kids are worth it.

You must ask the school to deregister your children otherwise you are committing an offence. You may register them at another school or educate them otherwise than at school. If you choose to do the latter you must show the education authority that you are providing a suitable education for the age, ability and apptitude of your child. You are not bound to follow any curriculum or have your children sit any tests. If you want further help then try the education otherwise web site or www.heas.co.uk which is the home education advisory service website. Hope this helps

I'm not completely sure but the social services may get involved but that's just a possibility as by law your children have to attend school. I'm sure someone will be able to tell you.

Are you planning to put them in another school? I wouldn't recommend teaching them at home. In my opinion from working in schools where children have come from abroad to live here and have not been to school before, they severely lack in social skills. Therefore your children may be okay for the moment but in the longrun keeping them away from other children will do nothing for their self confidence and their ability to interact with children of their own age. Good luck and hope you get it resolved.

I am a mother of 5, and I have 1 that I homeschool because he was just having too much trouble. So, with having to deal with both sides, I feel I can help you on this. Homeschooling is good in the fact that you can move at your childs pace, and there are so many resources to get help with anything. The downfall is the social skills that they miss. I was lucky in that I used my church for activities, but he did not get the chance to deal with break ups and broken hearts, that boy bonding, or pranks on the teachers. There is so much more offered in schools than education. I know the education is not as good sometimes, because homeschool is one on one, but life skills are worth so much more later on.

As a parent I think you already know the answer. School is not only a requirement it is also a way of life as far as future of the children is concerned. one option is that you get them into private education and prepare yourself for large bills. other, is that you sit down with the school involved and talk over the issues. If it means changing school, than do it in the right manner. You wouldn't like to close the doors to the future of ur children, would you?

You can remove your children from school but you have to have them educated at home. You must contact your local school authority to inform them that you have taken them out of school. They will come to assess what your children are learning and that you or the person who is tutoring your children has the knowledge to be able to assist them with their education. You will possibly be summonsed to attend a court hearing for not sending your children to school unless you can prove that your children are receiving an adequate education.

Get in touch with your local Citizens Advice Bureau [CAB] and get their learned advice on this matter. You must resolve this issue at the earliest possible date. You have a legal requirement and responsibility to send your children to school, taking them out of school is going to cause you a lot of problems. Act immediately, get legal help and advice.
