Can the new 3-D sonograms predict the sex earlier?

Your baby will have its distinct "parts" at about six weeks gestationally, but they aren't recognized till somewhere between 16 and 20 weeks. I got my sonogram to find out the sex of the baby at 20 weeks and it wasn't clear. I went back two weeks later and the sonographer confirmed it was a girl.

Although sometimes a less experienced sonographer will mistake a boy for a girl because his testicular sac is empty and hasn't dropped yet.

Most doctors will suggest having an ultrasound no earlier then 20 weeks to get an accurate answer about gender. I have never had a 3-D sonogram but believe that the same hold true for them in terms of how far along you should be to determine the gender.

My friend found out she was having a boy at 16 weeks. I read the earliest possible is around 14 weeks. But I wouldnt guarantee what it says until later on.

My girlfriend is 18 weeks and she found the sex out on the 16th week. She was told she was having a boy even though she did not want to know. The ultrasound lady just blurted it out!!! So I guess with technology these days it is possible to find out earlier. Good luck.

They arent really comfortable predicting prior to 16 weeks. They prefer to do the ultrasound in the 18-20 week window when the baby is big enough...but not too big.

I had a Dr.'s appointment yesterday and I'm 17.5 weeks along. We did an ultrasound and found out it was going to be a BOY! We have the Level 2 ultrasound scheduled in 2 weeks so we'll see if she was right. I'm pretty sure it's a boy though...my instincts tell me it's been a boy all along.

18 to 20 weeks, though sometimes little boys testicles don't drop (or hang down) enough to tell till later. At week 22 ultrasound my doc says, he's 90% sure its a girl. But he says, his little girl predictions have sometimes surprised him and become little boys at birth, though his little boy predictions have been about 99% accurate.

sometimes yes or no, but I wouldn't waste the money, but it's 5 months when they can find out. Sometimes when it's a girl they tend to hide their woman parts with their legs so, you might not get the baby's sex at 5 months. I think it is a mother instinct listen to yourself. I knew I has having a boy then a girl

I think it should be between 18 to 20 weeks thats when you get the most accurate result especially if your baby's postion is good.Dont be too anxious you will get to know
