I don't know about that, but I wish the BBC could contract an actor to do more than one or two seasons. These damn actors spend most of their lives being unemployed and going to soul crushing auditions only to be rejected. Then they get a regular paying job for a few months, and decide to quit.

Nah, the Doctor won't be evil. I pretty much imagine him being a bit like the First Doctor, and also like the Seventh (with his very dark manipulative ways with getting rid of his enemies).
Plus, the 12th Doctor is the First incarnation of the new regeneration cycle, so if he does ever become the Valeyard (which I doubt) it will be a long time coming, as in hundreds or thousands of more years.

The Master said "the Valeyard is an amalgamation of the darkest sides of your nature" "Somewhere between your 12th and final incarnations." That could mean anytime in the Doctor's future after his 12th regeneration. They may never have to deal with it.

The Valeyard was another renegade Timelord. If you can get hold of the 1986 story "Trial of a Timelord", it will explain quite a lot. Valeyard wanted to gain control of Gallifrey and so sabotaged the databank matrix in order to frame the Doctor (Colin Baker) and thus get him executed. Long story short, plan failed and Valeyard was shot trying to escape being arrested.
The Valeyard is firmly out of the picture. I think this "dark" nature that David Tennant will have will be a direct result of him losing Rose. They had got extremely close and having saved her life in the 1st series, was very fond of her. But he won't be evil. His sentence to being a renegade Timelord is to protect galaxy and his fave planet Earth.

"A darker figure" doesn't necessarily mean evil. Probably means he will be more prone to genocide and killing than all the other incarnations. I'm thinking they'll make one a woman.
They'll have to find a way around the incarnation limit pretty soon or they won't be able to continue the series.
IMO the series isn't as good as in the old Tom Baker days.

I haven't checked my facts, but I think the Valyard was the darker side of an regenerated Dr - so wasn't really the full character. Go to the links below for confirmation of this:
