China has never used slave! It was the U.S used Black slaves!
India and China are still 3rd world,because the people here are poor,and the environment,technology,social system...etc are still inferior to 1st world.
With large population,India and China are more influential than other 3rd world countries.
By the way,China and India are really developing while some so-called developing countries are not making progress.

I think the distinction between 1st and 3rd world was very apparent during the post-WWII era. China and India are comparatively stable. I guess we just need to list out what defines being a 1st world country, are the following items needed for a country to fall in this category?
-nuclear arms
-stable governement
-strong military
-strong economy
-(new definition) environment efforts
What else? Or what needs to be removed?

Neither India or China believe in diapers. In India, women carrying babies are routinely covered in filth. In China, toddler pants are open in the middle so kids can do their business anywhere, anytime. A 4-star hotel in India has open sewage lines inside the marble bathroom. The maid comes in everyday and puts a scented tab in the trough to help with the smell. In Indian hospitals, there are mosquito traps above the beds so the patients don't get malaria. china uses slave labor to build the cheap plastic forks and anything cheap. we want to buy cheap junk, because paying someone to make it with slaves is cheaper than paying someone more than minimum wage, plus medical/dental and the labor union demanding time off and pensions. America cannot compete against slave labor or sweatshop labor. Do you condsider that "first world" a country built on sweatshop and slave labor? I would hate to see what you consider third world.
As for india, they can barely support there massive population, as well as china, which is rapidly running out of fresh water, and the countryside would make an environmentalists head explode. you think america is a great "polluter" you havent seen anything till youve seen china or india. so we depend on them to make cheap disposable products, that puts them on par with us?
matt, you seem to have a soft spot in your heart for communism and slave labor, why is this? do you want to see this here in america so america can compete? you white wash chinese atrocities against humanity and children like its second nature. shame on you.
