Poems are written from immagination and physical occurances. To write a poem, sit some where quietly and meditate about what you want to write or something that had happen to you. Just think about it, ellaborate and begin to write whiles in thought. Never pause when writing till completed and read over for correction and addition

When you read a good poem, you'll know it because it somehow touches your heart and you feel what the writer is feeling.A poem may inspire you, make you happy, make you sad, or just amuse you with its rhyme. You cant help but share it with someone. Whatever season the poem is written, it always leave an impression on the reader's mind.

first of all, write about what you know. Don't write something about a depressed person, if you aren't depressed. You need to have a good beat (meter) and the poem needs to flow. I like poetry that has a lot of anecdotes and double meanings, because you have to get inside the writers head to see what they were thinking.

All of the above are good suggestions. Listen to your heart and draw from your own experiences for inspiration. Read other poetry (good and bad) in all it's forms. The good will help inspire you and show you what works. The bad will educate you by showing you what not to do.

As your work grows (continue to write), you will probably find that your style will change and reflect your personal growth and experience.

Like any art form, not everyone will like what your produce, but stay true to yourself and you will be immensely satisfied.

write about something you know and feel greatly about, and you will surely write a good poem. but you are not asking about which type of poem you need to write. there are many different types of poems.

I just describe what I see. I use a lot of imagery. Like God peeking out behind a "wooly white cloud".
