I wonder that same thing myself. Maybe they can't decide which one to give as best answer. If that is the case then at least they should give the good answers a thumbs up!

What I've noticed is that a lot of people submitting answers either can't be bothered to read the question or fail to read it correctly. Sometimes, of course, it's the fault of the questioner! It's quite tricky devising a good question! As a result, someone who asks a question in good faith, hoping for sensible answers, will find himself deluged with answers which just don't come up to scratch, as none of them actually corresponds with what was asked. How, then, is the questioner going to select the best answer from a clutch of bad ones?

Other questioners find themselves deluged with correct answers and don't know how to select the winner from the batch. It may well be that they're not sure which ones are indeed correct, when there are many conflicting, and apparently correct, replies, particularly in the languages section.

There are, of course, questioners who are after a quick answer and then can't be bothered to select the best. Note the tone of urgency in the questions of children doing their homework!

I have asked very few questions on here, but I always pick a best answer - only fair that someone should get the points!

Sometimes though, there could just be no answers that are right for what you wanted to know, or there are many answers that are worthy and so it's fairer to leave it to the vote? Alternatively, once the problem is solved they may not care about the question itself and so just not be bothered to chose one?

I don't know... people are strange creatures...!

Take care

ps- probably would have chucked it under 'Etiquette' but even then it's a bit of a woolly one! :)

Because they died and all there hands are doing is twitching on the keys.Because it was a child who did the dirty deed.It was a mental patient who asked the questian, and took there medicin finnaly and forgot they did anything at all for the past five years, they took there own lifes because someone told them to go a head and do it as an answer.A bigfoot person had snuck into a home and learned the computor but had to leave . because the human woke up and was comeing into the liveing room.and he dived out the window.ow, I have to go now on vacation to bali .I will finish this when I get back next month. Sometimes he or she does not pick a best answer because he/she does not know what the best answer is, and wants voting to decide especially with facts as opposed to opinions.
The other possibilities are:
thinks that all answers are bad
thinks that all answers are good
Or, he/she does not think at all.
Probably yahoo answers is a more appropriate category.

I agree, specially in Science and Maths category, u take so much pains to type a long and elaborate answer, and people aren't even grateful enough to pick a best answer, let alone thank everyone who tried to help

Perhaps, giving the yahoo community the chance to choose the best answer other than his/her answer. Or the asker has other things to consider more than picking the best answer(that happened to me once).

Might be because they're not satisfied with the answers and they want som more.Or maybe the answers are not serious enough for the question(e.g. stupid answers or out of this world answers)Or maybe they just dont bother and te questionsa are also stupid.
