Those soldiers signed up to protect you from enemies who are trying to kill you. You may not agree with Bush, neither do I, but the soldiers have no choice. They either fight or go to prison. We need to support our heros even though we may not agree with the reason for going to war. The soldiers are just innocent pawns in a worldwide chess game. It's really not their fault.

I do support our troops. I support the people in it and I am grateful that they have the nerves to try to protect our country. However, I don't support the war. The war is a stupid thing and I think it was a BIG mistake. Bush has done some pretty stupid things, but that doesn't mean we need to turn our back on the truth. The war is here. If we don't support the troops, moral support will die. We will die.
P.S. Don't think I like Bush or anything. I don't.

Its really quite sad to think about those men and woman who volunteered to fight for our country and for you and this is how you feel about them. Its reprehensible in my opinion and you are a troubled individual. The President is not an evil person and there is no secret "evil enterprise" that motivated him. The safety and security of our country and the rest of the world is what motivated him. If that is a "nefarious" purpose then your a sad human being.
Thank you for the facts farkas419.

As a decorated veteran of this war, I can answer your question.
One reason that the troops should be supported, regardless of your position on the war itself, is because they have absolutely NO CHOICE but to follow orders when they are told to go. Ok, they could choose to refuse "the lawful orders of the officers appointed over them" but that would break the law under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). That could end up with a prison term at a federal facility such as Ft. Leavenworth, KS. If the circumstances are severe enough, you can be charged with something as serious as treason or "cowardice in the face of the enemy", either of which is punishable by death. These are not pleasant options.
Another reason is that when you "sign the dotted line" with Uncle Sam, from that moment on, you are quite literally owned by the federal government. You don't have a choice but to do what they tell you, when they tell you to do it (so long as it is a legal order under the UCMJ).
For instance, if you are in a motorcycle accident as a servicemember and weren't wearing the protective equipment that the base commander had ordered for all motorcycles, you could be charged with disobeying an order and damage of government property (you) plus anything else that they can hit you with.
A third reason is that we did a job that **nobody** wanted to do but we did it and did it well. I didn't WANT to go to Iraq. None of us did. That place sucks on a level that folks here in the US can't even begin to imagine.
They have camel spiders that are the size of salad plates and REALLY hurt when they bite. They also have scorpions the size of a man's hand. 120 degrees in the day, mid-40's at night, and you never know if the man who just waved is being friendly or is telling his friends that you are an American so you should be killed.
I watched soldiers of the coalition work very hard every day to keep themselves and innocent civilians safe. At the same time we were trying to fight an enemy who had no problem whatsoever with dropping mortars on our tent hospital for 13 hours.
You are absolutely free to have, hold, and express your opinions. That is guaranteed by the Constitution. But before you go bashing on those who fought to preserve your freedoms, you might want to have some clue of what they did for you and your family.
When you are ready to buy a new system, go to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net. I buy all of my stuff from them.
No, I _don’t_ work for these guys.
I bought a complete, new system from them with a warranty for LESS than it would cost me to build it myself or order a custom one from the makers. They gave me the code ATX926 to get a 10% discount at checkout. Try it to see if it works for you.
I don’t know HOW they are so cheap, but they are. Plus, I have NEVER had any problems with anything that they have sold me and their customer service is outstanding. Those guys blow my mind.
Good luck!

Absolutely support the troops! However I am against the Bush Administrations efforts in this war. I personally don't think American men and women don't need to be dying in Iraq when we really need to defend our country first. However, the young men and women that enlisted did so to serve our country and to protect our freedom and if the dumb president we elected sends them somewhere it is there job to fight our battles.... within some moral boundaries.... I really don't think our soldiers should be out there raping women or killing children.

If you had lived in Germany in WWII and not supported the troops or the government, they would have executed you for saying it. See the difference? Maybe your not smart enough to?

Well that's a sticky wicket. I agree that we focus way too much on "Support the Troops" because of what happened after the Vietnam War. It's exasperating that you can't criticize the war w/out being told "But you support the Troops, right!?!?"
I don't blame any individual soldier for anything, but it's pretty horrible that they use white phosphorous and other things against the people of Iraq. But once they're there, they "have to" defend themselves somehow. Unless they are christian and just figure if they die they go to a better place. But I doubt many would just not fight effectively for that reason.

Well a review of your previous "questions" illustrates you are not the type of person we would want in the military. Actually laws are being made to protect normal US citizens from people like you. When you mature into a proper human being perhaps then you can criticize those that are protecting US citizens.

Of course I support our troops past and present. You have the right to state your opinion of the war because of our fighting men and women. You should be thanking them for fighting for you. God Bless our Troops
