Seriously, I have no idea what a chav is but hear the word often. Don't give me examples of who you think is a chav, explain to me the meaning of the word. Thanks.

Chav is actually an acronym for Council House and Violent, which says just about all; it is a class of people who are not even working class, usually dull, who only know to eat when hungry and lash out if someone looks on them in a way not to their liking.

CHAV stands for Council Housed And Violent, a term used to describe the trashier elements of English society. They spend a great deal of time trying to out do each other in dress and acts of foolish bravado, while doing little to improve their economic situation or social status.

A Chav as it was explained to me is the kind of person who wears high-heels with denims, have a essex face-lift hair-style, you know the hair tied into a tight ponytail. Huge hoop-earrings, midriff showing with a naval-ring, long nails painted in different colours , who you will see on a Friday , Saturday having a hell of a party , drinking like a fish, flashing boobs and dancing on tables , generally behaving like a fish-wife, fighting with the first person she makes eye-contact with, the kind of person i avoid.
