Well, it is so hard to buy for teenagers. So, our family always gives the teenagers money. That way, we know they are happy with their gift. Again, that way, they can buy something they need or something that they really want. I have a neice that loves getting money for christmas and her birthday because she calles it "gas money". She got a car last christmas and i know she can always use the "gas money". My son, age 14, loves getting money so he can buy something he really wants. Last year, everybody had asked him what he wanted and he told them money. After all our family gatherings and exchanging of gifts, he had gotten about $400. He went and bought the $150 pair of shoes that he had been saving for. I think it is a great idea to give money. Thanks makes everyone involved happy. You have a wonderful holiday season. May everybody remember the REAL reason for the season. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!!!!!!!!!!

Take into account both your budget and their interests.

First of all, what is the gender of the 16yr old? That will affect the answers you get.

For a girl, most places have makeup kits but the colors only work for certain people. Bath and Body Works has lotion gift packs.

For a boy, I honestly have no idea as far as something gender-specific. Video or computer games maybe?

For either, find out what music or movies they like. Get them something they don't already have. Books are great too. Avoid clothes if possible since teenagers have their own tastes.

In addition to whatever you decide, you could get a small package of candy or cookies.

I find these impersonal myself, but you can't go wrong with gift certificates or gift cards.

haha..well i'm a 16 year old girl so i can probably help you more than some of the other answeres so here goes, your daughter sounds kinda like me.. as for the ipod thing, it sounds like a good idea cause if she's really into music truuuust me she probably knows well over 800 songs as it is, right now i have 3060 songs in my library. i love to go to shows (concerts) and if i really like a band i love to see them more than once, and i'd be stoked if my parents got me tickets for christmas.. tons of bands do winter tours so definitely consider finding out what other bands she likes and get her good tickets for that maybe.. a gift card to victorias secret? you probably know already, but all the perfumes and stuff in there i'm sure she'd find something she'd like.. or a gift card to pacsun? i'm gonna assume she likes clothes like that, go to google and just type in pacsun and click through the website.. even if the doesn't like the clothes they have tonsss of jeans and everyone needs those haha. since she likes to go to shows, if she doesn't have a camera get her one of those.. find out if she's into photography and look into getting a nikon photography one, or just a good digital camera since she can definitely get a lot of use out of that. is she into guitar? maybe an acoustic one or splurge and buy her an electric one or just straight up ask her what she wants. or if she wants anything pierced tell her as part of her christmas gifts you'll let her get it done. but anyway 6 weeks is a while so just try and ask her you don't have to guess on what she'll like, hope i helped. xx edit- oh! and i forgot, a laptop if she doesn't have one! if she spends time on the computer like a lot of it think about getting her a mac.. i got one 2 years ago for my birthday and i love it. i guess they're kinda expensive so if you're not getting her a lot that could be an option she'd love.

This question is so subjective. Is the person in question male or female? What do they like, what is your budget? I know some 16 years old that only want expensive clothes while others want art supplies...

I'd say concert tickets, video games, and things like that, but it all depends on the person.

If you are completely lost, go for a gift certificate. It's not creative, but at least you won't have to deal with spending a bunch of money on something he/she won't like.

A Car would be nice but if not that a Gift Card to their favorite store and if your not sure what store it is. Get a Gift Card to a Department Store that way they can buy what they want and not worry about if they will or will not like your gift.

A car would be great, other than that I go with gift cards to a favorite store or good old cash.
