There was an article in our paper that a school (I won't say where) is banning the game of tag and touch football.
You wonder why we have serious children's health issues. No physical activity. No interaction with other children. How do they expect to cope & socialize when they are older.
We used to have races, played tag and guess what, if I fell and skinned my knee, it actually healed. No broken bones. We had fun as kids.
I actually feel sorry for the little ones now.
We made our own fun growing up in the 60's & 70's. Those of you not born then, sure missed a lot.

No way back when I was a child now Im 45 we played games outside. We played street hockey and skated outside. We loved it we didnt sit in front of a computer all day. Most of us were not obese like some of the kids today because we were playing outside and having fun doing it.
We didnt need all the material things of today we were very happy.

i agree with you! there is so much pressure on children now adays to look "cool". a nine year old girl wearing eye shadow and lipstick?! whats that all about?! there is also a culture where children have to wrapped in cotton wool! the kids in my scout group werent allowed to go on a bike ride because too many parents complaineed about safety, even though a strict "no helmet, no cycling" rule was enforced! i am gonna keep my childhood days thank you very much!

I totally agree with you! I work in an elementary school and the kids today are sooooo out of shape. They don't have any stamina IF they try to race each other. They can't stretch very far (not able to touch their toes). And they're overweight. Kids today only play with their PS2 and XBox and other gadgets. They have no idea what it means to "go out and play". SAD!!!

i agree with u.
I was born in the 60 s.
no wonder kids get into trouble
they are bored.
when i was younger we did not have much money, but we played all day, and if u get hurt, well thats just to bad,
u get up and carry on.
I would not trade my childhood for anyone s.

I tell my kids every day that I would not do as well as they do growing up in this society.
Some issues are timeless (peer pressure,
fitting in, etc.) but others I just would'nt be good at dealing with.
