Why can't you be both? Is that an exclusive "or"?
From your IQ level, you are conisidered a genius. The question of happiness, however, is open for debate. Being very smart, aren't you worried by injustice in the world, by the dangers, wars and everything that the more "common" person misses?
It has been said that one person will meet about 10000 people in their lifetime (meeting here means getting acquinted, knowing the name and some specifics; being crowded with 80000 football fans in a stadium does not count); so with an IQ of 164, you are theoretically the smartest person any person you will meet would have met in their life (of course, attending University, and physisist conventions changes the results from your perspective, but not for the person you would meet outside of very selective circles). What does this have to do with happiness? Plenty.
For starters, society is built around the bulk of people, and the bulk of people are more "average" than you are. You probably remember being bored at school because the teacher essentially teaches the average student, and repeats until most of the classes understands, but you did catch on the first time around, and let your mind wander, only to find out after your daydream that the teacher may have moved on and that you have some material to catch up?

It also has been observed that leaders should be a bit smarter than those being led, but not much more so, as there comes a point where those being led do not recognize themselves in their leader; they do not understand the leader, and will not readily trust him/her. If you are in academia, you can get away being so smart, but in the industry, your boss is likly to distrust you, and you can be overlooked for promotions. If you hope to one day go into politics, again, the voters will most likely not follow you, as there is a maximum IQ difference between the leader and the led; beyond which trust becomes hard to maintain (their fault, not yours; they just don't understand). But the same issue applies to finding a life partner: you need someone with an IQ 144 or more, as 20 IQ difference is usually the most that should exist for a stable relationship. And you remember this "10000 people met in your life" thing? Well, assuming that 5000 are members of the opposite sex (and I presume it gets much more complicated for gay people) there should only be 1 in 500 people with IQ 144 and above, or a total of 10 "suitable" people that you will meet in your life. That means one every 7 years. With no guarantee that they would not already be in a relationship (since they could match up with people with 124 IQ, which are 5% of the population).

It is lonely at the top.

If you are already a happy man, well, the more power to you. If you find your life wanting in some ways, and seek the support of people equally gifted (or cursed) -- or even if you would be so inclined as to share the secret of your happiness -- perhaps you should consider joining the Triple Nine Society. We most likely look a lot like you.

Genius comes from the Arabic word jinn which means spirit. A genius is a person with distinguished mental prowess. This can manifest either as a foremost intellect, or as an outstanding creative talent. The IQ of a genius is usually defined as 140 or above.

Also.. Wnston Churchill might be(and was) considered a genius for statesmanship....Maradona may be said to have a genius for soccer.... thus...A genius is a person with distinguished mental abilities. This can manifest either as a foremost intellect, or as an outstanding creative talent.

Having a high IQ does not make you a genius, but you do have very good ability of solving simple problems. When there is a clear, defined, universal definition of intelligence, then we will see if your a genius.

Just like there are many definitions of genius there are as many different definitions of intelligence. So see what describes you best and pick what you want to be :D

Someone with an IQ of 140 or more is considered a genius. You probably already know that. Myself and both of my sisters have high IQs. I can speak from experience and say that a high IQ doesn't necessarily mean you're smart or do intelligent things. Fortunately for you, you're a happy man with a high IQ.

There is a wonderful book called Genius, written by Bloom, that you may want to add to your reading list. I think a genius is a person that is a creative outlet for innovation, a mind that has discovered some beneficial application of energy or mechanics, or is a mind that has formed a conceptual framework for philosophical or scientific matter.

Please follow the definition of genius and digest it.Let people decide whether you are genius or not. Your dedication towards work will decide the degree of genius in you.
wish you all the best!

(A genius is a person with distinguished mental abilities. This can manifest either as a foremost intellect, or as an outstanding creative talent. The term also applies to one who is a polymath, or someone skilled in many mental areas. The term specifically applies to mental rather than athletic skills, although it is also colloquially used to denote the possession of a superior talent in any field; e.g., Maradona may be said to have a genius for soccer, or Winston Churchill for statesmanship.

In the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer, a genius is a person in whom intellect predominates over will much more than for the average person. In Schopenhauer's aesthetics, this predominance of intellect over will allows the genius to create artistic or academic works that are objects of pure, disinterested contemplation, the chief criterion of the aesthetic experience for Schopenhauer. Their remoteness from mundane concerns means that Schopenhauer's geniuses often display maladaptive traits in more mundane concerns; in Schopenhauer's words, they fall into the mire while gazing at the stars.

In the philosophy of Immanuel Kant, genius is the ability to independently arrive at and understand concepts that would normally have to be taught by another person. In the Kant Dictionary (ISBN 0-631-17535-0), Howard Caygill talks of the essential character of "genius" for Kant being originality. This genius is a talent for producing ideas which can be described as non-imitative. Kant's discussion of the characteristics of genius is largely contained within the Critique of Judgement and was well received by the romantics of the early 19th century.)

Personally I don't think genius is defined by IQ. I think genius is defined by general perception. I don't think it is possible to nail down exactly the point at which someone goes from ordinary to genius. I think general consensus is what makes a person a genius, e.g. for Einstein, Newton etc.

You might have a high IQ, money in the bank, and cats, but you are not a genius. Until you learn proper capitalization, and punctuation you will still be a simpleton.

a genius who can't spell or punctuate properly? it happens, einstein etc., although being a physicist and not being able to spell it seems a bit strange to me.....raised cats since birth? how does that make you a genius? a cat could do that....i have money in the bank.....i don't know if you're happy, but does being a genius make you happy? remember, ignorance is bliss....ergo, if you are happy, you are not a genius

If your are quite mad then you are a genius? Simple test - mad = genius.

e.g. you might live at house no. 164, have money in a piggy bank that your gran gave you and have 4 stuffed cats.

Aye, you are genius, have a dribble and a pill.
