I don't plan on having it much longer so I purchased used tires to replace my worn out tires. The tires are actually really new and much more nobby than my previous tires (size 31, 10.5, 15). Is it because the tires are really nobby (Baja series) that my car now shakes? What can be done to fix this problem?

Sounds like it could be a balance problem. But with off road tires you could have more problems. It is not uncommon for one of the tires to be out of round. These tires were probally took off of someones elses vehicle for a reason and that is probally it. If you take it to a large tire shop they probally can check the tires for trueness. If they are not true the may just have the machine to make them true. You got to take in consideration you boutght a set of used off road tires to put on a vehicle and now are driving it on the road. While you should not have a shake, you are not going to have a nice smooth ride, with on road tires.

The first thing would be did you have your tires speed balanced?
next can you see any visual defects on the tires. Next check the air pressure in all four tires while the tires are cold. If this doesn't fix your problem you may have a bent rim and or a bad tire, ( belt could be broken in the tire, could have been hit in an accident, etc). Have a qualified technician look at the tires. Remember it is YOUR life on the line.

Used tires are often bad tires. Somebody might have traded them in because they were shaking.
Balancing won't help if the tire has uneven wear or bad belts or is just plain cheap.
If you had brake repairs at the same time, new rotors can shake.

Did they do balancig & alighnment when you changed the tyres? I dont think its the thread causing the vibration as you described. Yes the ride will be a little bit more rough & noisy but not to the extent where the car becomes uncomfortable. Take the car back if it was not balanced & alighned. The problem you are experiencing is called shudder or high-speed shudder. Its caused when your wheels aren't perfectly alighned & causes a vigorous vibration & can be extremely dangerous.

You need to take it back to where you had the tires put on. Sounds like they are not balanced. You don't want to do any damage to you car.

it could be the tires, or one of them could have a broken belt. or it could be that you need an alignment.
