No, we also have:
- Bush tax cuts for all Americans (even those who don't pay taxes got "refunds") have resulted in increased spending by the private sector, bringing massive amounts of new tax revenues to the govt. Lowering tax RATES results in higher tax REVENUES. It's like a sale at the dept store. If you charge $100 for an item and sell 10 of them, your revenues are $1000. If you have a 25% off sale, you'll sell more of them. If you sell 20 instead of 10, you'll get $1500, a 50% increase in REVENUE. So when the price (tax rate) is lowered, more money comes in.
- Investors (which includes probably 80% of all Americans now, either through direct investments or 401(k) or IRA vehicles) have just pushed the stock market to another all time high, closing at over 12000 for the first time. This does not happen in a recession, in the type of economy that the dems and the press want you to think we have. Look around you. Private money is driving new construction and major remodling and restoration even in large rust belt cities. I live in a neighborhood of homes that are 20-30 years old, and everyone around me is updating kitchens, bathrooms, expanding their homes. Does that happen when we're all unemployed? NO, and it CREATES jobs too.
I will give you that both sides of congress have not come through on some matters of national importance, and that the republicans failed to push through many conservative issues that their constituents demanded when they elected them. But here's all the motivation I need to keep my republican congressmen in office:
Do you want Nancy Pelosi as your Speaker, just behind the VP in line for the Oval Office? Do you want Charlie Rangold in a leadership position? Do you want to see more supreme court justices like Alito, or do you want to see more like Gisnburg? Elect Dems in place of Reps, and you'll see our constitution continue to be eroded, discarded in favor of 'international law' concepts. You'll continue to lose the rights to do with your property as you wish. Already, the environmentalists can bar you from using your land, and municipalities can take it away to give to a developer. Want more of the same? Elect democrats.

Republicans claim to cut taxes, but I haven't seen the benefit of it yet. Instead, we have a horrible deficit and $300 extra dollars in our pocket to pay for higher energy prices. Personally, I would rather pay higher taxes, bring our boys home and start working on strengthening our infrastructure, while paying down our collective debt.
The Republicans cut taxes for the rich and screwed the country up for several generations. Thanks a lot!
