He was mostly known as Bhupat. Or Bhupat Bhahart or Bhupat Daku.
He was a raider who use to raid to plunderand loot, villages in India(time frame1947 to 1960 mainly Kutch/Gujarat area). I am not sure he was caught or not.
But there were possibilities that, he had some copy cats running around in different parts of India, Indian government had very high reward offered for him.
At least two movies, had simillar charector in them. They were not Bhupat.
1. Mother India. (Tregidy for most part)
2. Munimjee. (Was a comedy for most part)
Fock-loer has it that he was distributing the loots to his village, and thats why he was protected by the village people where he was hidding. Some people considered him as ROBIN HOOD of that time or Jassie James of India.

He was an outlaw in Balasinor area. Around 1945 time frame he was very famous and loved by the people. when I was about 7, I saw a dacoit in a jail in Balasinor and was told that he was Bhupat.
