My grill is covered in grease. Not alot, but enough to make it smoke all the time and have to keep the burners down. Can I cook the grease off by putting the burners on low and just let it go for a while? Is that a safe thing to do or should I just dig in deep and use a cleaner? I really don't need a grease fire to burn down my deck & house.

You've gotten good advice from the previous responders. Once you do get it cleaned to your satisfaction, each time you grill something that leaves grease, turn up the flame for a minute or two then brush off the char residue to keep it clean. Or you can invite me over for dinner and I'll take care of it for you. Bon appetite!

Use a degreaser for a few days, and then clean the grill, after you have done that, maybe a day later, give it slow heat to burn the balance of the remaining grease

Burners on High not low.... I do this after every cookout to burn off the excess meat and grease...

Even in an indoor oven, the clean cycle is the highest heat setting the oven has....

metal brush off the big stuff and then turn the burners on high to burn off the rest. if you use a cleaner, a couple of things may happen... you'll loose the protective coating on the grill which will cause it to rust and/or you'll leave a chemical residue that will be absorbed into your foods.

Does the grill come off? If so then take it inside and wash it with some steaming hot water and dish soap, then rinse well.

Move it off the deck, and cook it off. Self cleaning Range and Ovens do that , why not your grill.

Yes, It is safe to do. I turn mine on high and close the lid. Then I set a timer so I don't forget and go out and check it again in about 10 minutes.
