What to do they do instead of beating the children for not wearing school uniform?
What other methods do the masters emply to denigrate their charges?

Dress codes at work are normally put inside an employees handbook and you better follow them. Too many people think they can wear jeans or dress like a hooker. US companies don't put up with this nonsense.

I don't know about been victimised for not complying with normal dress code at work, but you may be asked to wear something appropriate to company policy and if you don't abide by or agree with it then its either a warning or suspension maybe even the sack, if children don't turn up to school in the appropriate uniform they are generally told to wear it in future and their parents are informed of the situation and told to comply with school regulations, I don't think teachers ever did beat you for not wearing uniform, well certainly not at the school I went to.

You certainly have a unusual view of the whole thing. If the school has a dress code, then the student must comply or be sent home.
If the workplace has a dress code you should comply or seek employment elsewhere.

I work in a government office and one of my female work colleagues was asked to conceal a tattoo that she has on her arm even though men in the office have been showing theirs off for years!!! She went to the union and they sorted it out for her...discrimination!!!
