Take to a vet.

I raised one and they make the best pets. Put him on a heating pad, when they are cold they barely move.
Get some baby formula and use an eye dropper to feed him. If milk comes out his nose, he's getting too much. Be sure the milk is warm. When he's old enough to eat by himself, get him some yogurt covered almonds. They go crazy for them.
Mine was named Rat. When I got him, he was just born. He lived for about 6 years. But I let him run wild in the trees in my neighborhood. He knew his name and would come when I called him. Hope this helps. Good luck

By the way, I was reading some the answers and believe me, you cannot hardly find a vet that will look at a squirrel. They're afraid of being bitten.

Check in your phone book for a local wildlife rehab center.

In the meantime, put a heating pad under it (while still giving it room to move away from the heat if it gets too warm), because Squirrels have to stay warm. Babies cannot regulate body heat and will go downhill VERY fast. Since he's not moving much, he's either too cold or near the end of his life. Rehab centers will allow you to drop them off for an optional donation. You will have to tell them where you found it, so that if it does recover they can integrate it back into that area.

Take it to a vet or local wildlife rehabilitater. The rehabilitator would be used to things like that, you could ask the vet where to locate one. The squirrel is most likely in shock or has internal damage so you might not be able to do anything. Make sure it has air holes in that shoe box (and I recommend something sturdier than a shoe box cuz if it comes too, it will have no problem chewing out)

To be frank, it would have been best if you'd just left it there and let nature run it's course.

In fact, you should probably take it back and leave it.

Sounds harsh, but if it is going to die, I am sure it would rather do so in the forrest, and unless you are a vet, or want to pay a vet to look at it, there's not much you can do.

Is this an adult or young squirrel?

Contact your local nature center. Some nature centers offer wildlife rehabilitation services. You take the animal to them and a wildlife rehabber will work with it so it gets better. It is then re-released back into the wild.

Why do no longer human beings comprehend the brilliance of Mr. Steven's "Mississippi Squirrel Revival"?! i think of if the could purely meditate in this music somewhat, they could see the easy. Now, play me some thing elegant.... "Oh confident they call him the streak, quickest undertaking on 2 feet....."

take it to the local vet and they will deal with it. The squirrel needs to be tested for rabies also. It's a wild creature and needs to be in the wild.

Try CPR, if it recover and bite you on the lip and your lip fall off, then you know it had rabies. and let this be a lesson for you not to pick wild animals up from the forest. take it back and release it animals belong in the wild.

that is really sad!!! its great that your trying to take care of it but i would take it to the vet and if you like ask if you can visit the squirrel and keep in mind that if it dies that if you hadn't found it it would have have a very painful death!!!

Did your dog chew on it? If not, maybe it's just "playing possum". I would take back out to the forest and let it go. Survival of the fittest.
