The earlier works of Blondie and The Go Go's, they were two of the most successful new wave bands of the 80s and their music is great!

Well, none of it was really GOOD. he he.
But if you want to listen to the genre, Flock of Seagulls was good. New Order was awesome. Joy Division. Some would go as far as to say Depeche Mode was New Wave, though that's debatable. For more bands, look up New Wave on Wikipedia.

Anything by The Cure... Their 1987 album 'Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me' is wonderful! "Just Like Heaven" and "Hot Hot Hot"
Their 1989 album 'Disintegration' is one of the best complete albums ever! "Love Song" and "Lullaby" and "Pictures Of You" are perfect!!!

Anything by Duran Duran, Aha, Boy George (Culture club), so many to choose from it's hard to give specifics, but those were among the top... Oh, and U2, prince, madonna, they were way up there in the 80's!
