I think its OK, it stops me sending my 12 year old out walking the streets, instead she get to wake up at 5 in the morning to get ready for a photo shoot til 8 in the evening. Working in a nice warm studio, free coffee and drugs. Sorted. I think the legal working age should be lowered to 11, my chimney needs sweeping, think I'll get one of the neighbours kids round!

Once upon a time, men actually had more options than women when it came to clothing; yet they didn't seem to be as interested in fashion as their women. Maybe it's also because they had other things to do, like earning the living of the entire family, going to war, building cities and inventing things? Vanity is a characteristic you can't afford to have unless you have quite a lot of free time, and some wealth too-- but not necessarily. Maybe that's why, historically, those with a passion for fashion were usually noblewomen-- they didn't need either to have some kind of job or to do housework, since they had servants for that one. Nowadays it is not much different either, since most middle- and upper-class women and girls are interested in fashion. I can't agree with the statement that women have a natural interest in fashion and men have a natural disinterest in it; rather, neither gender is naturally inclined towards fashion (the genes came before our desire to look pretty), but socialization influences women to be interested in it, not the other way round. I mean, not caring about fashion seems to be the default state and then, in women, socialization builds this interest; as opposed to the idea that caring about fashion is the default state and men are socialized not to be interested in it, or that there are different default states for each gender.

Yes.
It's so inappropriate to have underage girls wearing underwear, bikinis, and really skimpy clothing on the catwalks. It's like the fashion world is sending the message that it's OK to lust after teens and pre-teens, which is illegal in the states.
Plus, sending the message that they have the "ideal" body only tells pedophiles that they have the right idea after all, and real women with developed bodies are ugly and should be treated poorly. A mature figure is bad, and unhealthy is more attractive than healthy.
I wish they would use the women with realistic bodies, and keep the models over 18. These 14 year olds need to be attending school, not flashing their stuff for all the world to see.

The fashion industry has been full of pedophiles for decades. Brooke Shields was only 12 when she appeared on T.V. for Calvin Klein wearing only jeans, then appeared in Playboy (clothed) shortly after. I doubt writing letters would change any of it at this point, there is so much corruption it will take a lot of rich people banning those designers as the only language they understand is $$$$$. They encourage pedophilia, drugs and eating disorders. They are a disgrace to our country and horrible role models for our young. Unfortunately, their large amounts of money let them shove their propaganda in our faces everywhere we turn.

I agree, it's ridiculous and does not set a good example to young girls.
Did you know though, that the big fashion week in Madrid recently banned models from appearing that had a certain BMI or less?
Funnily enough, most of the 'top' models didn't go there...

Yes.
I hate to see little girls baring their midriffs and wearing low cut jeans with high heels. Some of the slogans are none too appropriate either.
Trouble is, a lot of these girls' parents actually think it's ok.
What can you do?
Bring back Mary Whitehouse.
And Enoch Powell of course!

I was certainly annoyed at the photos of Jade Jagger's daughters done up like a couple of tarts-and she looked proud! Everything seems to be aimed at younger people these days. They should make the most of being young, and parents shouldn't encourage them to look older. no wonder there are so many paedophiles now.

Wearing big coats in the summer with the pockets cut out of them for 'easy access' will never take off as fashionable attire!!
