There is no set amount of money that will eliminate these things. It just takes time, humble leadership, and proactive citizen participation.

First, we've spent a lot more than $30 billion, but that isn't really germane to the issue.
Second, poverty, lack of freedom, lack of food and lack of medical services is more due to bad governments than to lack of money, charitable and otherwise.
Third, charity often undermines indigenous industries - foods undermine agriculture, clothes undermine local clothmakers and garment makers.
Fourth, medicine requires not only drugs and equipment, but significant numbers of trained professionals, facilities, etc. That is significant costs in materials, as well as manpower. And in many of the impoverished places, these people would be placed in jeopardy due to crime, corruption and conflicts.
So, yes, it's nice to imagine a world of peace, love and plenty. But this flies in the face of human nature.
Your best bet is to think and act locally.

All the wouldas, shouldas and couldas aren't going to bring back the lives of the people lost in this ill conceived war. It isn't acceptable to stand by and watch people dying at the hands of a tyrannical dictator, either, but was this the only place in the world living under that yoke?
Rule 1 is you can't fight for another man's freedom.
"All warfare is based on deception... There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare..... Hence, to fight and conquer in all our battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting."
-- Sun Tzu Wu - "The Art of War" (c. 500 B.C.)

Just a little correction, the Bush administration has so far squandered over $330 billion of your taxes on "bringing democracy???!!!" to Iraq. The outcome: Iraqi mothers wanting to scare their children threaten them with democracy. It's quite valid to ask the goodness that this wealth would have brought to Americans and even Iraqis, but then Mr. Bush finds himself accountable to warmongering corporations instead of Americans and humanity in general.

It has only proved that you preach acceptance but no one in the politics of this country or others accept Christians. Christians are the only religion that say Christ is the only way. All others can accept all others. With what we are seeing in Iraq it only proves that Christians will not be accepted or tolerated. That makes me know without question who is right. The Bible Revelations are being played out as we speak without question. No acceptance, No to tolerance. That is my stance.

Every young kid goes through this thought process.
But as you grow older, you realize that it wouldn't work.
We have given billions of dollars of foreign aid regularly for decades to do this very thing.
It is a failure. It just goes to corrupt foreign politicians and rulers. It doesn't work.

Baghdad could do with clean water and electricity. But there's little time for that in a military budget of trillions of dollars.

We already throw money at those problems and if what you say is true, for what we have spent in my lifetime, they all should have disappeared already. Now that you know you are totally wrong feel free to apologize to everyone for not knowing how the world works. TYIA

You left out, the good option, we could take care of ourselves, and let everybody, that hates us, do it without our money. Let
them accept that and tolerate it.
