Any surgery is going to give you pain. However this time, the surgeon will cut along the existing suture line, and simply remove the implants from the space that was created in the original surgery - far less painful but you still need to be on the lookout for wound infection post-op. Removal of implants is usually much more straight forward than insertion, and is normally done as a day case unless the surgeon anticipates any problems with a particular patient.

Peachy - do you know what elective surgery means? Elective = planned, rather than emergency. I think you need to look at the difference between cosmetic and elective, and the questioner certainly didn't ask for your opinion on her mental state.

Having never had it done, I couldn't tell you.

However, surgery is surgery and there will be trauma to the area - they can't just slit the skin and the implant will pop out - they may need to dig around in there for a while, plus they will have to suture the area back up when they're done. I'm guessing that while it won't be AS painful, there will still be a considerable amount involved.

Hi Coralyn
Why are you asking this question, have you got implants and if so why do you want them removed. Your Question can be asnwered with a YES or a NO, this to easy for points. I don't have implants anyway as i am a 44DD and would love to have small boobs

Probably more painful, over time scar tissue builds up around the incision site, around the implant, taking them out could be like pulling off a bandaid from the inside of your body. I had the birth control, Norplant, 6 little "sticks" put under the skin on the inside of my upper arm, when they went to remove them, they had grown scar tissue around them. They didn't want to come out.

I think it would be worse, because I think they have to remove some of your breast tissue as well, depending on how your tissue has reacted to the implants. so you'll end up even smaller than before!

Personally, I think any elective surgery is absolutely insane. Having said that, removal would be less insane than having them put in.
