About twenty years ago, I had what I THINK was this book. It was a novel of Toulouse-Lautrec's life, and it was in English. I stupidly lent it to someone who never returned it, and I'm really keen to get another copy. Trouble is, the only novel of Lautrec's life I can find on the net is the above-titled book by a guy called Pierre la Mure. And it's in French so is of absolutely no use to me whatsoever!

Anyone know if there's an English version still in print, and where I could get hold of it, please?

Many thanks.

I found this reference on Amazon.com and I think it must be your book: Moulin Rouge ;: A novel based on the life of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (Unknown Binding)
by Pierre La Mure
In other words, it does exist in English (and Italian, incidentally). Here's the link:http://amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b/102-7465676-9671346?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=Moulin+rouge%22++pierre+la+mure&Go.x=7&Go.y=7

A wise man once told me: "A book lent is a book lost." So true!

Must have an English version of the book as I can still have it in Hungarian. Bought it a couple of years ago not long after the Hollywood movie. But there's an other bio of Lautrec if you're interested in his life written by Henry Perruchot. He wrote the bio of most of the impressionists. Check it out!

Try abebooks.co.uk, there is currently at least one 1955 paperback version, seller "The Book Tree", but may be more. If not lucky there, alibris.com is another possible site.
