Considering that many nations in the world, chief among them the United States, have nuclear capability and have for many years, should other countries be allowed to have the same? If not, how is it right for one to do so, yet not allow another to?

I am very well educated, thank you. I do not appreciate the name calling either to be honest.
I am fully aware of what a deterrent is, and how us having them and them not having them protects us. But does that make it right for us to say "We can do things, but you cannot?"
Why did the US allow Isreal to create nuclear weapons, yet they won't allow Afghanistan? Are you trying to tell me that Isreal is better suited to being a nuclear power?
As to the person who said that the US handles it's military power well, I believe this is the same person who called me a simple ovine? Do you honestly believe that we do? Do you think invading and occupying a country and trying to force our political beliefs on them is using our military responsibly?
If so, perhaps you should take a look at yourself before you call others simple.

Because we believe in democracy makes it right for US to have nuclear weapons? I don't understand that logic any more than the rest of what you said.
Personally, I believe that George Bush IS turning into a religious fanatic. He is passing more bills to support religion than anything, he constantly talks about god and his beliefs... while this could all be a ploy to get the gullible christians to vote for him, he almost seems sincere about this, and that is saying a lot about a man who speaks two lies for every truth.
Sorry, not buying it so far. Still need a better explanation as to why it's ok for us to have them but not them.
