Look up your local Calor Gas dealer in the Yellow Pages or a directory sevice - they should be able to take back the cylinder for you.

Dig a small patch in his garden and place the cylinder in it. Call the police and say you have found a unexploded WW2 shell in the garden....a presto they pop along and blow it up. You get rid of the cylinder, the neighbours get to stand around your garden giving interviews to the press and the local kids get something better than the local fireworks display!

I'm sure you are talking about the small LP tanks that are used for grilling,or on your camper. If you have a place locally that refills them, then you can most likely turn them in there for free. Since they are most likely not refillable anymore due to the current laws, saying you need to have the OPM tanks now.

I had the same problem when I moved into my current house, I had three of the damn things left in the shed.
My advice? Do what I did....sell it on Ebay (you'd be surprised at how many people actually want one for their caravans/patio heaters etc)

Get an old pram, wait till it's dark and then take it for walkies. Watch the CCTVs don't see you.
